A Trivia Question!
Ok, so I’ve decided to start having the occassional trivia question on here as a way to encourage people to start posting comments and to make this site a little more interactve.
This first one is going to be fairly easy. So… if you know the answer, post it and I’ll let you know if you’re right.
In 1976, which two former governors of Georgia faced off in the Presidential election? And, for bonus points… who were their running mates?

Jimmy Carter with running mate Walter Mondale and Lester Maddox with running mate William Dyke

Absolutely correct! That was quick… I’ll make it trickier next time.
Maddox was governor of GA from 1967-1971, and Carter followed him from 1971-1975. Interestingly, Maddox served as Jimmy Carter’s Lt. Governor during that time. William Dyke was the mayor of Madison, Wisconsin.
The ticket received 170,531 votes, only a few thousand less than Libertarian Roger MacBride.
