Green-Leaning Legislative Bodies
The former Green Party Mayor of Santa Monica has an interesting page on his website where he details the statistics of legislative bodies on which more than one Green Party member serves.
Most interesting to note are the first ever Green-controlled school board district (Nevada County, CA) and the first three Green-controlled city councils… Arcata, CA, Sebastopol, CA, and New Paltz, NY.

Not bad. This ties in with what we were discussing the other day in regards gauging the size of third-parties on the national scene. Glad to see that they continue to make their way into the fold. Though I don’t support all their positions, I support their right to compete equally.

I personally like to think of it as the third parties against the two major parties. I am a Democrat, but it always makes me feel good to read about a third party candidate winning political office.

I’m the same way. I’m a Republican, but I’m always pleased when a third party candidate of any stripe wins a race. Or an independent.
