Kansas Libertarian Switches Parties
Dennis Hawver, the Vice-Chair of the Libertarian Party of Kansas, has switched to the Republican party and entered the 2006 gubernatorial primary.
Hawver was the LP’s 2004 candidate against Congressman Jim Ryun, and received 7,391 votes (3%) in that race. In 2002, Hawver was the party’s nominee for governor and recieved 7,936 votes (1%). He finished fourth in that four-way race with a Republican, Democrat, and Reform Party candidate as his competition.
At this time, Hawver is still listed as the Kansas Vice-Chair on the LP’s website.
This comes as former Libertarian Scott Bludorn has launched a Republican primary bid for state house in Illinois.

I love that he tries to pretend there’s some huge outcry for him to switch parties. He only got 3% of the vote.
