No ‘Green’ for Sheehan?

It looks like anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan is considering a run for US Senate, but there’s no mention of the Green or Libertarian parties… it seems that everyone is looking for her to make a Democratic primary challenge to Dianne Feinstein.

From KESQ:

Cindy Sheehan says she’s considering running against Senator Dianne Feinstein to protest what she called the California lawmaker’s support for the war in Iraq.

Sheehan’s 24-year-old son was killed in Iraq in 2004. She set up camp near President Bush’s Texas ranch in protest last summer.

Sheehan was in Caracas this weekend attending the World Social Forum along with thousands of other anti-war and anti-globalization activists.

Feinstein’s campaign manager, Kam Kuwata, said the senator “doesn’t support George Bush and his war policies.” But with troops committed, Feinstein believes immediate withdrawal is not a responsible option.

The Democratic primary will be held in June, and candidates must submit their statements by February 14th.

Here’s to hoping she runs as a Libertarian!

  2. Trevor Southerland Says:

Besides her stance on the war, is she a Libertarian?

  3. The Girondin Says:

There is absolutely no evidence that Sheehan is a libertarian, and she is not a Libertarian. The fact that she made her quasi-announcement at a Hugo Chavez anti-globalization lovefest makes me seriously doubt it…

Exactly. The LP shouldn’t want her. I’m all for running big names and celebrities… but they need to actually be Libertarian, and I don’t mean 100% purist… I just mean more than one issue.
