Today’s Candidate: Pat LaMarche
SUNDAY — FEBRUARY 12th, 2006
Today’s candidate of the day is Pat LaMarche for Governor of Maine.
LaMarche was the Green Party’s 2004 Vice-Presidential candidate. In 1998 she captured 7% of the vote in an unusual 4-way race for governor that saw independent Angus King re-elected by a landslide. LaMarche’s showing stacks up pretty well when you consider that the Republican candidate received only 12% of the vote and the Democrat a mere 19%. Without an independent in the race, Green candidate Johnathan Carter won 9.3% of the vote in 2002’s gubernatorial contest.
I suspect LaMarche will top 10% this November.
