Today’s Candidate: Ben Meiklejohn
TUESDAY —March 21st, 2006
Today’s candidate of the day is Ben Meiklejohn for Maine State Representative.
Meiklejohn is running as a Green Party candidate for State House in District 120. He made a previous run for state house in District 31, back in 1998. He received 26% of the vote and placed second in that race, beating out the Republican candidate by a substantial margin.
Since then, Meiklejohn has been elected (in 2001) and re-elected (in 2004) to an at large seat on the Portland School Board.
There doesn’t seem to be a candidate website up yet, so here is a link to the Portland School Board homepage.

If I am not mistaken, Ben Meikeljohn was the first Green elected in Maine, although his position on the School Board is non partisan. The greens now hold 4 of 9 school board seats in portland with Democrats holding the other 5.
