A Quote from Lyn Nofziger…
Lyn Nofziger, a former Reagan spokesman and influential Republican operative died yesterday at the age of 81.
The Reuters wire story on his death concludes with this amusingly candid quote…
“I am a Republican because I believe freedom is more important than government-provided security,” Nofziger said on his Web site.“Sometimes I wish I were a Democrat because Democrats seem to have more fun. At other times I wish I were a Libertarian because Republicans are too much like Democrats. What I actually am is a right-wing independent who is registered Republican because there isn’t any place else to go.”

People use the word “right-wing” incorrectly.
Libertarians, by and large, are NOT right-wing.
Right wing = deferring to state power, particularly in oppression of the masses, militarism, etc.
The term comes from the French Revolution.. Rightists were those who supported monarchy, leftists supported democracy.
Right-wing doesn’t mean conservative, and left-wing doesn’t mean “liberal” (and liberal doesn’t usually mean liberal either).
The definitions of liberal and conservative are up to interpretation, but “right-wing” has a definite meaning… The Patriot Act is RIGHT-WING. The Drug War is RIGHT-WING. Etc.
