Monday’s Candidate: Tammy Lee

TODAY’S CANDIDATE OF THE DAY IS

Tammy Lee for U.S. Congress in Minnesota’s fifth district. Lee is running as a candidate of the Minnesota Independence Party and boasts quite an impressive resume.

She’s the former Press Secretary for Senator Byron Dorgan, former communications director for Hubert H. “Skip” Humphrey’s gubernatorial bid in 1998, and a former airline executive with U.S. Airways. Currently Lee serves as the vice president of corporate affairs for a $2 billion privately-held vacation packaging and technology company, The Mark Travel Corporation.

Lee co-chairs the University of St. Thomas, College of Business, Alumni Board of Directors. She is also on the Board of Directors for the MN Family, Career and Community Leaders of America as a member of the Executive Committee and chair of the Visionary Committee.

From the official Independence Party endorsement press release:

Jack Uldrich, Lee’s campaign co-chair with Tim Penny, nominated her for the endorsement saying she was “the most credible, qualified and positioned-to-win candidate the party has ever had for Congress.” He added, “She can and will win this race if we all get behind her campaign.”

IP State Chair Jim Moore stated afterward, “Tammy is going to be the challenger to the DFL endorsee, no question. She is in tune with the issues of the 5th and will provide voters with solutions, not partisan bickering.”

    She definitely looks legit.

I have never seen a candidate who absolutely gets it the way Tammy does. As a resident of the 5th district I am glad to finally have the chance to vote for someone to send to congress. She is going to hit fundraising numbers that will shock the DFL endorsed candidate. I should note this is a fairly strong DFL district, but it is an open seat also the Republicans are a complete non factor having endorsed someone who couldn’t even get the Independence Party endorsement for US Senate when he sought it 4 years ago. I’ve got my Tammy Lee bumper sticker.

Wow, she’s one of the hotter candidates, too!

(Just thought I’d call out the 800 lb gorilla sitting in the middle of the room).
