Every major election, every libertarian needs to have at least one way to Vote Libertarian. Absent that opportunity, party support will wither. On-ballot Federal and statewide campaigns, except in the most difficult circumstances, or circumstances in which they will negatively impact other ballot access as seen in Massachusetts, are an important positive part of party development.

Running candidates for President is a dead-end for Libertarians. We cannot compete with the resources of the pro-government parties, and the sound-bites from our candidates make us look kooky.

At a local level, a Libertarian can take a principled stand, and people will listen to someone in their community. A Libertarian running for President can say something mainstream, and it will be taken out of context.

Jacob Hornberger does a good job with the Future of Freedom Foundation and should stick with it.
