I think if we put it to a vote, people would agree that I'm much more of a libertarian than you are, Dondildo.

I accept the basic legal and financial framework of this country that has given us so much prosperity. I do not accept the war mongering, racial profiling, and state thuggery that you masturbate to on a daily basis.

And thus UA you prove to all the world that you are indeed NOT A LIBERTARIAN but rather a left-wing Michael Moorish/Cindy Sheehan-esque Anarchist.

You can't even back the Libertarian candidate for Governor of Michigan. That's really piss-poor. But oh, well.

Just stop trying to paint yourself as a Libertarian. Cause you are not, in any manner, shape or form.

The MI governor's race is probably the worst 5-person race I've ever encountered. But I have to go with Doug Campbell as the only pro-choice, anti-war, anti-racist candidate.

When did "right-wing" come to mean "freedom loving?"

I fucking swear, Dondildo... Did you go to college? Your history is seriously lacking.

DeVos is a right-wing Ovarian Marxist.

Newspapers are private entities and don't have to "allow" anyone or anything in print, dipshit. Don't like it, don't buy the paper. I swear you are a fucking commie. But the Detroit News is a Republican-leaning paper you tool.

I bet you're one of the morons who thinks the WSJ is liberal. Some idiotic think tank set out to proove that and contrived the data so badly that they got the results they wanted.

I have almost never read a liberal editorial in my life. But then again, you let Rush Limbaugh define "liberal" for you, so you're going to disagree.

Endorse Devos is a reason to call the Detroit News "conservative." Hah! Devos is a squishy moderate Republican. Doesn't have a right-wing bone in his body. He's slightly better than Granholm.

But the best vote in the MI Governor's race is for a truly principled freedom-lover Libertarian Greg Creswell.

The Detroit News leaned slightly right in the 1970s and '80s. They even had a regular libertarian columnist on board. Then they were bought out by some super-liberal newspaper conglomerate in the 1990s. From what I've heard, they almost immediately fired all the conservative editorialists and mercissly kicked out the one libertarian on staff, and replaced them all with hardcore leftists.

Oh, they do throw right-wingers a bone. Seems they do allow one single conservative columnist to write a column once a week. Their competititors the Detroit Free Press allows ZERO conservative/libertarian voices in their paper. Thus, the explanation for why the Detroit News is views as "more conservative."

In interviews Friday, Walberg and Renier distanced themselves from the extremist label. Walberg also faulted the paper, which leans right.

“It’s unexpected,” said Walberg of the decision.

Detroit News = A Republican paper. They endorsed DeVos.

WILL DONDERO ADMIT THAT HE IS WRONG??

From the Battle Creek Enquirer:

The Detroit News on Friday endorsed a third-party candidate over the two major parties in the 7th Congressional District, which includes Battle Creek.

Said the News: "In the open 7th District, the major party choices are the far-right Tim Walberg and the far-left Sharon Marie Renier. We'll shun the extremes and take our chances on the Libertarian candidate, Robert L. Hutchinson, a retired Air Force major from Dexter."

"Wow," said Hutchinson, a World War II veteran. "I hadn't heard, no. But the reaction is 'wow.'"

The congressional seat is open because incumbent Rep. Joe Schwarz, R-Battle Creek, was defeated in the Republican primary in August.

In interviews Friday, Walberg and Renier distanced themselves from the extremist label. Walberg also faulted the paper, which leans right.

"It's unexpected," said Walberg of the decision. "Bottom line is the Detroit News is not a paper in our district. They don't understand our community."

Renier said they did understand Walberg, however.

"I think they're telling people not to vote for Walberg because he's a kook," she said. "I think that they've figured out not to vote for him, and they generally endorse Republicans."

Walberg said he wasn't interviewed by the paper.

Jeff Hadden, deputy editorial page editor for the News, said he didn't know if Walberg was interviewed. He said endorsements can be based on voting records and public statements, though.

Hutchinson, meanwhile, said he didn't want his wife to find out about the endorsement. Even the remote chance that he might win the race and take her to Washington, D.C. — "that madhouse" — was cause for concern.

Hutchinson has campaigned on a platform of reduced military presence overseas, citing entanglements from the Korean War to Iraq. He has said he does not expect to win the seat, but wants to bring attention to the issue.

In 2004, the News endorsed Schwarz over Walberg and four other candidates in the Republican primary, Hadden said, and again chose Schwarz in the general election over Renier.

Also in this year's race is U.S. Taxpayer candidate David Horn, who continually tells voters to vote for Walberg.

Again, you are way off the mark. The Detroit News is the right-wing paper, idiot. The Detroit Free Press is the liberal paper.

DONDERO DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK HE IS TALKING ABOUT, PERIOD.

Secondly, I am not an "anarchist." I am a liberal. undercover_anarchist is just a cool name, imo. I'm undercover because of my line of work, which is incompatible with anarchism.

DONDERO DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK HE IS TALKING ABOUT, PERIOD.

Third, the MI LP is CLEARLY a right-wing racist party. I think I know better than you. And as for skewing young - I guess if you count under 65 to be young, then it is about 50/50. I, for one, was not around for the 1970's fights between so-called anarchists and so-called "mainstreamers." In fact, my parents weren't even old enough to vote in the 1970's.

DONDERO DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK HE IS TALKING ABOUT, PERIOD.

Walberg - a vehement fascist and fraduster the likes of which even Dondero could not possibly support - is not "way ahead." He's ahead by 8 points, which in my district, is a fucking disgrace. The LP candidate will be lucky to get 8 votes. The LP IS IN A TERRIBLY SORRY STATE running nothing but paper candidates for Congress every year. The beloved house slave gubenatorial candidate raised $3000 (fraudulently). That's not sorry???

I found the newspaper endorsement when I searched Google News and there were about four other articles about it. I think it surprised alot of people that a newspaper would endorse a Libertarian over a Democrat or Republican but we will see it happen more often.

As for the endorsement of the Libertarian over the Republican and Dem, it should be noted that this is simply a ploy by the extremely left-wing Detroit News. They know they have no shot of pushing the Democrat over the dreaded Wahlberg. So, their only choice is to maybe boost the Libertarian in hopes that he'll draw enough votes away from the Republican, giving the Dem a shot in the race.

Ain't gonna happen. Wahlberg is way out ahead.

What would be super cool though, is to see the Libertarian, with this endorsement, kick the sh*t out of the Democrat.

Beat the Liberal-biased media; Vote Libertarian!!

Let's keep in mind that Undercover Anarchist is not a libertarian at all, but rather by his own admission an "Anarchist."

Anarchism raised it's ugly head in the 1970s within the Libertarian Party, and again in 1984 with the David Bergland Campaign for President. But it has been repeatedly beaten down by more mainstream Libertarian Party members.

One can only suspect that UA is a bitter loser, thus the vitriol that spits out of his mouth for the Libertarian Party of Michigan.

Sorry, Undercover Anarchist is dead wrong on everything he says here. If anything the Michigan Libertarian Party leans slightly to the Left. Most particularly, the MI LP is very culturally left. It's got a sort of "edgy youth-oriented punk rock" sort of attitude. I attended a recent Macomb County LP meeting and the majority in attendence were very youthful in appearance and spirit liberal libertarians. Marijuana legalization was the top issue of discussion. Nothing wrong with that. But the contrast couldn't have been more striking than what UA lays out here.

Actually, the MI LP is not in a "sorry state" as UA proposes. In fact, they have more elected officials than ever before. They have two very excellent city council people in St. Clair Shores and Hazel Park. Very professional, "edgy" young woman and young man.

I'd say the MI LP is like the "punk rock libertarians."

As for their candidate for Governor, I've heard him on the radio, and he's quite articulate.

UA could be biased against running black people as Libertarians. Sad, very sad indeed. I wouldn't take his word on this for nothing.

Most particularly, the MI LP is very culturally left. It’s got a sort of “edgy youth-oriented punk rock” sort of attitude. I attended a recent Macomb County LP meeting and the majority in attendence were very youthful in appearance and spirit liberal libertarians. Marijuana legalization was the top issue of discussion. Nothing wrong with that. But the contrast couldn’t have been more striking than what UA lays out here.

Actually, the MI LP is not in a “sorry state” as UA proposes. In fact, they have more elected officials than ever before. They have two very excellent city council people in St. Clair Shores and Hazel Park. Very professional, “edgy” young woman and young man.

I’d say the MI LP is like the “punk rock libertarians.”

As for their candidate for Governor, I’ve heard him on the radio, and he’s quite articulate.

Too bad the MI LP is actually a party of extremism. Most of the candidates, the candidate for governor in particular, have made a central issue of Proposal 2. The LP gubenatorial candidate, Greg Creswell, is a black man. The party disingeuously nominated him as their anti-affirmative action poster boy. He is so uncapable as a candidate that his white running mate was sent in his place to an NAACP forum in Creswell's own home town. Then you have Leonard Schwarz, candidate for US Senate, who makes "racial preference" a central issue. He is silent on ending the war, on impeaching Bush, on ending the anti-libertarian Know-Nothingism of the border nazis.

Proposal 2 is funded by white supremacists. It would prohibit government programs from, for example, targetting young girls. In CA where a similar proposal was passed, they even tried to ban women's health clinics.

And as far as Hutchinson goes - I saw this old bastard in a debate. Holy shit, he was bad. Completely and totally embarassing. He's libertarian on exactly one issue - foreign policy. He made blatantly racist comments, for which he was heckled from the crowd (talking about "importing Asians and Latinos" and "we need to stop doing that"). But most of the time, he performed like Admiral Stockdale.

Jesus Christ, the MI LP is in a sorry state.
