While the Illinois Green Party candidates won't likely win, they are outperforming previous years. "Sidelining" is a specious conclusion given that some regions are better and some worse.

^^ I've heard "the time to start is now" since I was a child. Wake me up when something is actually accomplished.

Good job to Mr. Bell. Hopefully he can snag off a win.

Some people are very quick to say that the Green Party is "sidelining itself" based on the actions of a couple candidates and locals. A few third-party candidates from all the different parties do this every year. In fact, I just read that the Libertarian candidate for U.S. Representative in Alaska just dropped out and endorsed the Democrat. Care to impart that action to the entire Libertarian Party?

Meanwhile, just to look at state legislative races, Green John Eder is likely to win his third term in Portland, Maine this year, and there are some other prospects in that city. There are also serious Green contenders in Providence and St. Paul, with high-profile campaigns in many other places, like Philadelphia.

So while the Green Party is sidelining itself, the LP is threatening the major parties across the country. The Nader high is over, folks. The Libertarian Party can break the duopoly, and the time to start is now.
