Newest TPW Contributor

Reporting from Texas on the news of the third parties there will be Joey Dauben, himself a former newspaper reporter and current city council candidate south of Dallas. His main duties will be to report on the Libertarians, Constitution Partyers, the Greens and independents in the Lone Star State.

“I read ThirdPartyWatch.com religiously, have always been a fan of Austin Cassidy, and quite frankly, I’m one of the biggest news-political junkies around,” said Dauben, himself a regular contributor to TPW who supports Ron Paul’s presidential run. “I subscribe to the major/minor parties’ newsletters and publications. There’s still a lot of reporter in me.”

Aside from the non-partisan city council campaign, Dauben will focus his future political efforts at the University of North Texas this fall with a major in political science, with law school pursuits to follow after that. While backing Ron Paul’s candidacy, Dauben said he’d consider joining the team of LP presidential contender Wayne Allyn Root.

“I guess you could say I’m a Libertarian Republican, much like my political heroes Ron Paul and Barry Goldwater. I was hired by the Ellis County Republican Party to coordinate our slate of candidates last year, was a newspaper reporter for six years, have run for office a few times, so all of this experience is going to pay off in the future,” said Dauben, who first ran for office when he was 22. “Not only that, but I publish my own local news blog – elliscountyobserver.com – so this new venture will not be too difficult.”

The Waxahachie, Texas (Ellis County) resident will report on Texas third party news on the local, statewide and federal level. He was recently the first to break news that Texas Constitution Party chair Bryan Malatesta was seeking that party’s presidential nomination. He’s working on securing an interview with Green Party presidential nominee Kat Swift, G-San Antonio, as well as covering his county’s special election for Ellis County treasurer next year, a contest that could result in several third party contenders.

“Third party junkies in Texan should send me their news and information to joeydauben@hotmail.com,” he said. “Or you can reach me at myspace.com/joeydauben.”

  2. Freelancer Says:

    Welcome abourd, Joey.

  3. Chris Campbell Says:

I would love to know this fellow’s secret, as I was asked by Field Director odom some months ago to report on CP issues. The owner of this site told me to send him articles, etc.

So far, no response and no posting of anything I have sent. More power to him as apparently a state Chairman’s contributions go without any response.

  4. Trent Hill Says:

    Well Chris,

Cody Quirk is an AIP member, and Joey Dauben is supportive of CP activities…so you can send them the stuff i’d guess.

How much WAR can millions buy?

Hey, it’s great that TPW has added another competetent contributor, but can anything be done about the emphasis on the far-right parties? Virtually all of the contributors are from the CP/CP-like factions. No offense to Mr. Dauben.

  8. globalist_elitist Says:

Just so you know, Ron Paul and Barry Goldwater are almost nothing alike. Goldwater was pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, and a mega hawk. Ron Paul is anti-gay, anti-choice, and anti-war. I’ll take Goldwater’s two out of three to Paul’s one.

First of all, Ron Paul is not anti-gay. Second, if you think that being “pro-gay” and anti-abortion are more important than being anti-war you’ve got some mixed up priorities. War is the biggest and most destructive government program that there is.

  10. globalist_elitist Says:

That’s true, but being radically anti-choice and anti-gay is a form of domestic war. If war is the only thing/by far the most important thing, would you support, say, McGovern over Goldwater?

And yes, Paul is anti-gay. 1) That’s why he fired Dondero, and 2) That’s why he opposed allowing gay couples adopt.

    Really? Radically anti-choice?? From www.ontheissues.org:

    Ron Paul:

Voted NO on restricting interstate transport of minors to get abortions

Voted NO on barring transporting minors to get an abortion

(The above two votes were similar but separate bills years apart.)

Voted YES on banning partial-birth abortion except to save mother’s life.

(A “radical” would want it prohibited even with the mother’s life in danger.)

And he has publicly stated while he is pro-life he believes it should be a state issue as per the 9th and 10 amendments. Again, not the sign of a radical.

    Anti-Gay??

He voted NO on Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage.

    Some radical.

I hope this site works better for you. I have read your Elliscountyobserver site, but I don’t like pornography and never will. If you stay here, please try not to offend. The picture of the unclothed men having sex was a bit much, even to get your point across. Let’s keep it clean, learn to use your words.
