I like Hagel, even if I disagree with him on some issues like immigration. To me Bloomberg is not a good fit, he's suited to be mayor of NYC but not a national candidate. I think a Third Party Ticket must have a Republican and A Democrat. I could see Hagel teamed up with Wesley Clark or Jim Webb.

Hagel is more running-mate material than top of the ticket material. On his own, Hagel might get 5%.

What gets me is this: in order to offer another option than a big-government Democrat and a big-government Republican, this independent movement is going to offer... a BIGGER government Republican?

"And I dont think they intend to actually do it. I’d say that they just are increasing their name visibility. This is a great way to mutually benefit from each other."

Trent is probably right, its just PR. And the perfect opportunity for Hagel to promote himself as the all-so-different GOP candidate. Looks like the primaries are going to be VERY nasty this time...:-)

If Bloomberg won´t do it with Hagel who would his likely RM be? Someone from the Southern States? Yet Gore/Bloomberg?

Yeah, Bloomberg isn't running to the right of anyone. His best bet is if someone from the 2nd tier takes the GOP nomination... like Fmr. Governor Huckabee or Gilmore.

Conservative? I dont see how. Bloomberg will be on top of the ticket, and he is anything but conservative.
Also, how could a Bloomberg/Hagel ticket work? Hagel has a very conservative record, and Bloomberg......doesnt. Either Hagel will move to center,or this won't happen.

Does Guiliani really have a chance to survive the Republican primaries? He's been taking such a beating lately over his abortion stance and we're 8 months away from a vote being cast. I think the GOP nomination is going to Romney. A Romney/Brownback ticket is very possible.

This ticket may have more of an opportunity then people may think. Think a second.

Republicans nominate Rudy Guiliani, pissing off the conservatives.
Democrats nominate Hillary Clinton, pissing off the anti-war Democrats.
Hagel/Bloomberg comes in as the conservative alternative to Guilani, yet an anti-war alternative to Clinton. That electorial map we saw in 2000 and 2004 could be completely changed with the addition of these two.

He did, but being an Anti-war republican in the presidential race is a niche market, and the niche is already filled by someone who has a far deeper resevoir of good will and a far better mechanism in place.

Hagel couldn't get elected dog catcher. I think that Bloomberg actually stands a chance if he entered, but not if it's with Hagel.

^ Haven't we been kicked in the nuts plenty already? Neither party wants small government anymore, it's not some big secret. The voters don't vote for small government, either Libertarian or Constitution. The Republicans pay small government lip service when they have people professing themselves as "big government conservatives", a term that could be easily used to describe Francisco Franco and Benito Mussolini.
