Kevin Thompson declares his candidacy for congress in Concord
On Saturday, May 12, Kevin Thompson of the Constitution Party of Massachusetts officially announced his candidacy to fill the vacant congressional seat in the 5th district. The event was held overlooking the Old North Bridge in Concord.
Listen here
On this battlefield, many years ago, stood brave men and women ready to give their lives for the cause of freedom. One by one they saw their freedoms being taken away under the tyranny of the British Crown. Enough was enough. For years prior to this event, they heard the discussions, listened to the debate and aired their grievances. But now was the time for action. Now they would place their very lives on the line for what they held dear. Their chances were slim. They would be out numbered and out gunned. They would be facing the mightiest military might in the world. They themselves were few and untrained in comparison. Yet here they still stood for one simple reason – liberty is worth the fight.Because of their efforts and courage, we stand here today as citizens of the greatest nation on earth – the United States of America. The passion and bravery of these men live on today, but their cause, I am afraid does not. For in the very nation built upon the idea of liberty, we see those liberties once again slowly evaporating. So once again, we stand here today because liberty is worth the fight.
I would like to tell you that our Constitution is under attack. I would like, in order to rally the troops, to say that we must defend our Constitution from those in Washington who seek to destroy it. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The truth is Washington does not attack our Constitution, it merely ignores it. Our founding document has become irreverent in halls of Congress. It is no longer even a consideration.
Article 1 Section 1 clearly says, “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States.” Yet all over we see judicial activists legislating from the bench.
It also gives Congress ALONE the power to declare war, yet they willingly ceded this over to a trigger-happy President who led us into an unconstitutional, immoral war in Iraq . . .”

Also. Of the more than 40,000 votes cast in the “text poll” on Fox News, over 10,000 people said Paul won.
Clearly his anti-war message resonated somewhat. I guess we’ll find out how much soon.
Of course, the press is spinning it as him saying, “We caused 9/11”.
Still, they said, “Paul didn’t actually win the debate. His supporters are just highly organized”. That’s a compliment. I’ll take it.

The above = true
Most of the rest = B.S.

Man… I’m chomping at the bit to talk about tonight’s GOP debate. F—k Giuliani and the media. F—k Hukabee and the FraudTax

Word of caution: if you actually have sexual relations with Giuliani or Faux News, make sure to use a condom.

Sorry to interrupt this discussion of last night’s debate to actually mention the topic, but good luck Kevin! The national Constitution Party supports you and wishes you well. Thanks for leading by example and being a candidate.

Gary, when is the actual election, do you know?
May 16th, 2007 at 9:15 am
Good luck Kevin. Give em hell.

Petitions for third parties are due in mid-August. Major Parties have a September Primary. The general election is in November.

The Constitution Party of Massachusetts? Kinda like the Green Party of Idaho.
May 16th, 2007 at 12:29 pm
Anthony,
Actually—they are quite large and well organized.
May 16th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
“The Constitution Party of Massachusetts?” That’s like the Reform Party of anywhere.
BTW: This is a little suspicious. Falwell dies and then this guy appears? Sounds like a Hindu reincarnation plot.

At least he’s a better Congressional candidate than Eric Dondero.

I like his sign. He could maybe even win. If the Republican is a typical liberal northeastern Republican the conservatives might vote for Kevin. And fewer people vote in special elections because not much attention is given to those elections.

““The Constitution Party of Massachusetts?” That’s like the Reform Party of anywhere.”
...Touché

Trent,
If the Constitution Party os Massachusetts is big and well organized, does it have a chance to replace the Republican Party in the state, which really isn’t that well organized?
May 17th, 2007 at 4:44 pm
I noticed his campaign sign looks somewhat similar to a George W. Bush campaign sign.
May 17th, 2007 at 7:34 pm
For a moment, I thought the title read, “Fred Thompson declares his candidacy for Presidency in Concord.” I had to read that twice.
May 18th, 2007 at 1:04 am
Anthony,
Obviously not. But for a THIRD PARTY in a state which bends AWAY from its Ideology, it is large and well-organized.
