"Kubby = right on the issues, wrong on tactics. I’m slowly shifting my Donderian level of influence to the Phillies campaign."

Kubby supports abolishing the Federal Reserve System which you say you support. George Phillies opposes illegal immigration which you favor.

global_elitist:

No, the Hillary Clinton campaign would not say "the email got lost" ... because the organizations that sponsor Democratic Party debates would do everything but parachute into her compound and abduct her to avoid having a debate without her. If an email wasn't replied to, it would be followed up with a phone call. If the phone wasn't answered, the debate sponsors would ask important party personages who know her to get in her face, pin her down and get an answer.

They might hold the debate without her, but they'd never, ever, EVER say "we invited her and she did not respond" or "we invited her but she declined" unless they had made a considerable effort to ensure that yes, she had actually received the invitation and ignored it, rather than having not received it.

Ben Miller is not the Commission for Presidential Debates, and Steve Kubby is not Hillary Clinton. Ben doesn't have the resources that the CPD does to make things happen; nor is Steve Kubby as influential in the LP as Hillary Clinton is in the Democratic Party (neither are any of the other LP candidates -- none of them are sitting US Senators, former first ladies, or bigwigs in an organization which is the equivalent of the Democratic Leadership Caucus).

Emails get lost all the time. In my experience, the USUAL culprit is spam filters.

It's just one of those things. It's not "unimportant," but it's spilt milk, and who spilled it and how is, so far as I can tell, unknowable. The damage is done (more to the party than to Kubby; the fact that his opponents have gums and choose to flap them is one of his most powerful assets as a candidate), and I'm sure everyone involved will try to make sure to get it right next time.

Regards,
Tom

I'm not casting aspersions on you. I'm assuming someone else received the email. Or maybe the guy is lying and it was never sent. Or maybe you're lying. Or maybe... Who knows. But the most logical answer is that the email was sent, and presumably received. How many emails really get lost? That's an excuse I use with a client when I'm two days behind on the deadline.

POINT BEING: Would the Hillary Clinton campaign say, "The email got lost"?

And my influence is actually negative, so you should be happy that I'm no longer semi-supporting your candidate.

global_elitist,

You write:

"An invitation was sent, and it was undoubtedly received."

Except that it wasn't. I'd like to find out WHY, so that if it's a deficiency on our end it can be fixed ... but the fact is that emails get lost -- trapped in spam filters, lost in transit, etc. -- all the time, and that's apparently what happened.

I don't think it's "thin-skinned" to rebut your assertion that I would regard a debate invitation as "unimportant."

As far as shifting your influence -- however large or small that influence is -- to George, I'm sorry to hear that. However, I'm not going to attempt to dissuade you -- not because I think it's unimportant, but because I think it's impossible. I'll reserve my persuasive energy for expenditure on those who remain susceptible to reason.

Tom - I didn't think you had such thin skin. In the past, you have commented that certain events were "unimportant" because they did nothing but preach to the choir (I'm paraphrasing). The truth is that Kubby is doing a shitty job. An invitation was sent, and it was undoubtedly received. Since it was not received by you, it must have been by someone else. That someone else either did not forward it to Kubby, or he just ignored it; perhaps in pursuit of whatever local office he's running for or whatever. Kubby = right on the issues, wrong on tactics. I'm slowly shifting my Donderian level of influence to the Phillies campaign.

Ben,

Please allow me to correct myself: When I wrote that "Kubby wasn't invited," I should have phrased it "Kubby did not receive an invitation." I didn't mean to imply that you didn't send one, just that it never got to me (I was probably still campaign manager at the time), to the media scheduler, or to Kubby.

My main point, however, was contra global_elitist's prediction that I would treat the matter as "unimportant." That's just incorrect. It's always important for the candidate to get his message in front of voters (as a matter of fact, I'm assuming that global_elitist's little taunt was due to the fact that when given the choice between meeting voters and schmoozing party insiders, I advised Kubby to do the former).

I consider it especially important for Kubby to address voters when the format includes more than one candidate ... not just for himself, but for the party. Until recently, a candidate debate without Kubby was essentially a public broadcast of the message "the Libertarian Party isn't serious." Now that Root has entered the race (and assuming he'll put some money into it), a candidate debate without Kubby is a public broadcast of the message "the Libertarian Party isn't serious, unless you're a confused voter looking for a Republican who got lost on the way to South Carolina."

In any case, if you host future such events, I hope that whatever happened won't happen again. Feel free to drop me a line at kubby.communications at gmail dot com if you want to arrange for more redundant/reliable communications.

global_elitist,

No, I'm not going to "explain why this thing wasn't important." Any chance to get in front of voters is important.

I am puzzled at Daniel's contention that "every time we have tried and contacted Kubby for either an Interview or Debate not response was given." I am aware of one contact from Daniel requiring a response, and the result of that contact was that, to my recollection, Kubby is scheduled to appear on Daniel's show in June.

Daniel has my address, and he has used it in the past. So far as I know, the ONLY contact with the Kubby campaign about this show occurred yesterday as follows:
