Well, we had a most intersting time at the Lowell Folk Festival this past weekend. I was there on Staurday collecting signatures for ballot access, when I was approached by the park police. This official approached as I was talking with a couple from Lowell who were willing to sign. The official [...]

It looks like Ed Thompson is considering a Presidential bid once again. This could be great news for the LP… Stephen Gordon has the details on his blog here.
Ed Thompson is the brother of former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson, who is himself running for the GOP nomination. In 2002, Ed Thompson was the [...]

Make room for one more candidate in this year’s race for Lancaster County commissioner.
Attorney Jim Clymer, the 59-year-old national chairman of the conservative Constitution Party, confirmed Monday he plans to add his name to the November ballot. He said he plans to turn in his nominating petitions to the county Board of Elections on Wednesday.

It seems that Michael Bloomberg may have a few skeletons he needs to deal with in advance of launching a 2008 independent bid for the White House.
From the Chicago Sun Times…
Mayor Michael Bloomberg speaks his mind, and that is a big part of his cachet here. But new details from a sexual harassment lawsuit he [...]

I recently received a letter from Libertarian Party of Texas chairman Pat Dixon. It was, like most of the literature I receive from the state LP office, informative. It was also warning Libertarians across the state that a primary vote for Ron Paul in the March Super Tuesday Primary next year will have negative results [...]

This is interesting, though I’m thinking it’s in a very sarcastic tone:
People’s Weekly World Newspaper, 07/26/07
By Scott Marshall
Thank you, Senator McConnell
During the House and Senate debates on the Employee Free Choice Act, some of my friends got riled up by all the right-wing nuts attacking the EFCA because the Communists support it. I got a [...]

This is a very good example of the power of running for local office and winning. Rather than running hopeless Congressional candidates, the Lee County LP focused on the nonpartisan Soil and Water Board and actually got something accomplished…
Your government wants to send you a check.
It’s a small part of your government, and it’s [...]

The Constitution Party has chosen Jim Clymer and Chuck Baldwin as their stand-in candidates for President and Vice-President. These stand-in candidates are for petitioning purposes only and will step aside when the party selects a real ticket. Although Clymer/Baldwin sounds like a potential real ticket to me.
From Ballot Access News…
In some states, unqualified [...]

With all of the 9/11 truthers getting press, Andre and I from Libertarian Politics Live! had a pastor who has written a few books on this very subject (Doug Bandow was our first-half guest). What do the Kool-Aid drinkers in the LP/CP/GP believe?

Scott Wolk, SW Virginia Coordinator and Roanoke county resident, announces the organization of the Constitution Party of SW Virginia. The CPSWVA is affiliated with the Constitution Party of Virginia, and ultimately the Constitution Party. The Constitution Party is the country’s third largest, fastest growing political party based on voter registrations (Ballot Access News).

How would Libertarians, Greens, Socialists, or Constitution Party activists react to their city councils and county commissioners enacting ordinances and laws to restrict illegal aliens from renting apartments or houses?
That debate was pounded last night on Libertarian Politics Live!
What do you guys think? It’s an issue splitting every third party, and major party.

Indo-Libertari-Green Presidential hopeful Daniel Imperato loves to issue press release that make him sound like a big deal. I haven’t posted any of them in a while because they were starting to really run together. But this one deserves a little bit of attention.
It seems that Imperato has appointed a Bolivian Central Bank [...]

From Gary…
Something is happening in Iowa and it doesn’t have anything to do with the upcoming major party caucuses. All year long our Constitution Party national office has been receiving a steady stream of phone calls and emails from Iowa voters who are fed up with both the Democrat and Republican [...]

University of Florida Libertarians are taking up the issue of “gun free” college campuses, urging lawmakers to change this policy. As a personal note, I’m all for gun rights and the 2nd Amendment… but I really don’t think this is a winning issue. I would personally feel much less safe on campus if [...]

It seems that the New York Times is preparing to run a piece that asks the question: “Can Ron Paul Win?” Unfortunately for Representative Paul, it sounds like the content of the article isn’t going to win him very many votes in the Republican primaries.
Here’s a sneak peak from Editor and Publisher…

First I’d like to say that by far the most important development in the libertarian race thus far is “The Libertarian Vote” study published by The Cato Institute. See: http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=6735 Briefly, 20% of voters are libertarian leaning at the beginning of the election cycle (Gallup [...]

Phil Smart, last year’s Libertarian Texas state Senate candidate arrested several days before the election, is headed back to court, this time for a “public health hazard,” whatever that means. He appears Thursday, July 24 at 8 a.m before Judge Curtis Polk, D-Waxahachie, at the Ellis County courthouse.
Smart is representing himself, but he told listeners [...]
