Today the Daytona News-Journal published a story on two candidates who have announced that they are running against nine-term Republican incumbent John Mica for US House of Representatives in Florida’s seventh congressional district. One of those candidates is the Constitution of Florida’s Louis Jack Tart. I caught up with Louis Jack this morning for a more in-depth interview.

TPW: Why did you decide to run for Congress?

LJT: I decided to run because I don’t like a lot of the things John Mica has done in Congress?

TPW: Such as?

LJT: Well, he claims to be a conservative, but he keeps voting for larger government.

TPW: Can you give an example?

LJT: He is on the Transportation Committee and he has supported bills that have created longer lines at airports that don’t prevent terrorist attacks.

TPW: What are your three top priorities if elected?

LJT: 1.) Tax reform. I want to abolish the IRS. 2.) Control the borders 3.) Smaller government.

TPW: What about the right to life?

LJT: I am 100% pro-life without exception.

TPW: The right to keep and bear arms?

LJT: I support the right to keep and bear arms.

TPW: What would you do in Iraq?

LJT: I will vote to immediately withdraw all troops from Iraq.

TPW: Do you think you can win this race?

LJT: I am sure I will. A lot of people are dissatisfied with Mica.

TPW: How is the campaign going so far? How much money have you raised?

LJT: I don’t need to raise a lot of money. I am running a grassroots campaign by word of mouth.

TPW: Have you run for office before? Ever gotten elected?

LJT: No, this is my first campaign.

TPW: What do you do for a living?

LJT: I am a waiter.

TPW: Family?

LJT: I am married with three children, ages four, two, and two months.

TPW: Are you supporting any presidential candidate?

LJT: I am supporting Ron Paul. He supports the constitution, and I am a constitutionalist.
