Joel Hansen’s Ron Paul speech
Joel give a excellent speech at the Ron Paul Teaparty yesterday in Vegas. Though I wonder if this counts as a endorsement of Paul?
JOIN THE RON PAUL REVOLUTIONby Joel F. Hansen
In 1765, the liberal tyrants in the British parliament discovered a way to enslave the American people and steal their wealth. It was called the stamp act. The Americans had a different name for it: Taxation without Representation.
On Dec. 16, 1773, the Americans threw the tea, and the hated tax stamps, into Boston harbor.
In 1775, they started the American Revolution, threw off the chains of tyranny, and became Independent Americans.
But they learned a bitter lesson, that the issuance of paper fiat money, unbacked by bullion, is another way that government can steal the wealth of the people.
So when they established a Republican form of government by adopting the US Constitution, they also established the silver dollar as their money: A dollar like this one. (Show silver dollar from 1985 coin act.) Silver and gold were the basis of our monetary system from 1792 until the 20th century. And the founders made it a capital offense to debase US gold and silver coins.
Then in the 20th century the liberals did it again: They found another way to enslave the American people and steal their wealth. It was called progressive taxation coupled with inflation. Thru this means they have inflicted the sickness of socialism upon the American people.
First they gave us the progressive income tax. (1913) They said it would never be more than 1 or 2%. This is called taxation by misrepresentation.
Then (1916) they gave us the Federal Reserve, which is neither Federal nor has any reserve.
Then (1934) they stole all of our gold coins and gave us federal reserve notes instead and promised to redeem them for lawful money.
Then, they gave us (in 1963) , federal reserve notes with no promise to pay in “lawful money”.
(1965) they gave us copper sandwiches in place of silver coins. But they still looked kind of like silver coins.
In 1977, Russell Munk, Asst General Counsel for the U.S. Treasury, admitted that federal reserve notes are not dollars.
(1979) Then they gave us Susan B. Anthony dollar coins. These were so bad no one would use them.
I think that was the last straw. These were the intolerable acts of the 20th century.
In 1985, the Ron Paul revolution began with the Gold and Silver Bullion Coin act.
Ron and his fellow Congressmen gave us back honest money. They created a gold and silver system to challenge the worthless FRN’s and its companion in crime, progressive taxation administered by our friends at the IRS.
Ron Paul gave us back gold and silver coins–honest money in which actual wealth could be stored and exchanged. The gold coins said on its face $50. The silver coin said on its face one dollar.
So some American people here in Nevada began using these gold and silver coins in business.
But the IRS said no to these folks. If you try to actually use these legal tender gold and silver coins in business, we will prosecute you. Because this would destroy our system of progressive taxation coupled with inflation, which is the way that we steal the wealth of the American people. Tax the rich! Well, everyone is in the rich bracket when a frn is only worth 7 cents.
The IRS said: You can’t calculate your income at the face value of the coins: Without a single law to justify their actions, they told them they had to declare the coins’ worth in Fiat FRN’s.
They brought 161 felony counts against these honest money folks.
They prosecuted them thru an excruciating four month long federal jury trial.
And what did the American people do? The American people as represented by the jury?
What did they do? Why, they threw the tea in the harbor, that’s what they did!
They returned not one single guilty verdict against these good folks.
Who gave the American people this opportunity for a 21st century Boston Tea Party? Ron Paul!
Who gave us this chance to have honest money again? Ron Paul did?
Which candidate for president remembers the Boston Tea Party? Ron Paul!
Which candidate for president understands the American Revolution? Ron Paul!
Which candidate reveres the United States Constitution? Ron Paul!
Which candidate for president believes in honest money? Ron Paul!
Which candidate for president is not a big government liberal? Ron Paul!
Which candidate for president not a big government conservative? Ron Paul!
Which candidate is a doctor who knows how to cure the sickness of socialism? Ron Paul!
Which candidate is a doctor who can deliver a new birth of freedom to the American people.
Yes, we need Ron Paul for President in 2008!

What a load of crap.
Yes, it’s true that our entire banking system is a house of cards. Yes, it’s true that an American dollar is paper backed up by air. And yes, it’s true that most of the money in circulation today isn’t even that—it’s electronic.
But to call this part of a liberal conspiracy is baloney. Since the transition from a hard-currency standard, wealth has become more and more consolidated in the hands of fewer and fewer people. Hardly jives with the redistributive policies of liberals.
I’m a liberal and damned proud of it. I’m for redistribution, and damned proud of that too. Only liberals and only redistributive measures can save us now, from being propelled into a Second Dark Age.

This is an example of how both the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party can use the Ron Paul campaign to promote our opposition to the warfare-welfare state.

Fine, Alan, how about redistributing $300K of your income to me to bail out my fixed-rate 30-year mortgage since my equity has gone to crap with the market collapse as a result of being a victim of the subprime mortgage mess, even though I saw it coming and never took a subprime mortgage?
I await your check if you’re so dedicated to residtributionism…but i won;t hold my breath.

Sorry Tannim; I need every penny I can get. The infallible, invisible hand of the conservative-engineered globalized market has tanked the economy and cost me my livelihood, not once but twice.
You heard me. The people who lost their “old economy” jobs, and who bit the bullet and re-trained themselves, are now losing their “new economy” jobs.
Because labor is regarded as having no value—because a preteen Chinese slave laborer is considered every bit as good as an American worker—there is now no job that cannot be exported, no skill set that is safe from the axe, and no employer who will not gladly work you to death and then sell off the body for parts.
Companies swallow one another up, sell off the assets, lay off the employees, keep the cash for the shareholders; and it’s all cheered on by the Bush administration as “growth”.
Wise the hell up. The free, unfettered market isn’t self-policing and it isn’t humane. It cares about nothing except efficiency. Screw efficiency—Treblinka was “efficient”. We need to put human beings first.

> But to call this part of a liberal conspiracy is baloney.
BUT IT IS.
I know that individual Liberals are good well meaning people, but it’s these same people that keep giving our government the tools to enslave us all.
The 1st amendment wasn’t so that Larry Flint could publish nudie pictures, it’s so you can speak out against the government.
The 2nd amendment isn’t there for hunting, it’s there to keep the government from killing you.
And of course, the “Liberal” politicians use Liberals just as Neocons use Republicans. A Neocon isn’t a Republican, he’s fascist, but he presents himself as a person that wants to limit government, have free markets, and reduce spending and taxes. Of course it’s a lie.
The Liberals have the same problem. The NeoLiberals, if you will, are nothing more than communists. I know it sounds like tin foil hat stuff, but that’s the truth. That’s what they’ve always been.
And remember communists weren’t even communists. Read Narx, and look at what happened in the USSR and Red China – was that Marxism? No, it was just a totalitariam state branded as Marxism.
I’m sure many communist leaders went into power expecting to uphold the oath and promises they made, but they didn’t. The same is true of Republicans, the same is true of Liberals. In many cases, they don’t even realize they are betraying their constituents, but they do.

> The 1st amendment wasn’t so that Larry Flint could publish nudie pictures, it’s so you can speak out against the government.
And liberals have a problem with this? I know I don’t.
> The 2nd amendment isn’t there for hunting, it’s there to keep the government from killing you.
No problem with that statement either. Too bad that, since the time of the Constitution’s writing, the government has developed the machine gun, the tank, the military aircraft, the Bomb… can the public withstand that? Even with assault rifles?

“Too bad that, since the time of the Constitution’s writing, the government has developed the machine gun, the tank, the military aircraft, the Bomb… can the public withstand that? Even with assault rifles?”
I would say yes to this. Look at how difficult of a time we are having fighting “insurgents” in Iraq who are armed mostly with 7.62 rifles. We have how many armed forces over there? And this small group of dedicated(albeit mostly misguided) people are doing extraordinary damage to our massive forces. So yes, assault weapons are certainly a fine weapon to fight an army of whomever. Whether that be a tyrannical government or terrorist faction. It’s what is behind the fight that matters. Put 200,000 terrorists on US soil and they will be obliterated by 100 Americans armed with assault weapons. One more reason to lift the 1986 machine gun ban.

Some members of the IAP have done so. I have even encouraged a few.The leadership CANNOT do so or they cease to be leadership. One member of the State Executive committee switched to be a Republican to support Ron Paul and is no longer on the Executive committee.
If you believe that the ONLY way to support Ron Paul is to become a Republican then you are DEAD wrong.
We need to have a viable and strong Minor Party for Ron to switch to AFTER the Republican Party destroys his chances of being elected.
It will occur.
December 18th, 2007 at 6:52 pm
I am a liberal too if that is the only alternative to being a conservative.
Joel is my brother and is old school. He thinks being a liberal means being a Communist.
Thomas Jefferson was basically a liberal.
December 18th, 2007 at 6:56 pm
Today Republican means Fascist.
Democrat means Socialist.
Frankly I would rather be a Socialist than a Fascist.
But then I do not have to be either. I am an Independent American and I am very much like Sam Adams in my beliefs.

America is being undermined on many fronts. The one most eminent is our Bankruptcy. Fueled by War, Empire Maintenance, and Fallacious Spending of congress; The economic Overtaking of America will not be far off. The effects are just now becoming evident. We will be sold to our enemies rather than forced into submission.
Ron Paul is the only candidate running for president that has the vision of the founding fathers of this country ingrained in his heart. Core Character Counts. He is the only one in the field that I would trust my money and my family’s safety with.
The honesty and integrity displayed by Ron Paul coupled with the message he espouses is the glue that binds the support together. The word could not do it alone and this is precisely why the media and the others are baffled. The Ron Paul Supporters Value Substance Over Symbolism. We fully believe that Ron Paul will follow his words as his record shows. He is not as the others with Pandering Platitudes.
The commonality with all Americans is the Constitution. This is why his support group can not be pigeon holed in to a specific category. We Are Diverse And Many. There is no singular stereotype that even comes close to the specification of the group.

THe support for Ron Paul on this site is interesting in that he is running for nomination of one of the two parties…...I hate to say it but it lends to the suggestion that third parties are essentially irrelvant

To Alan:
It sounds like you have endured a lot of pain in your life, but it isn’t justification to aggressively act against others. The facts is, wealth contributes to loner, healther lives, and production of wealth is good for everyone. However, any “system” that condones theft (either despotism or majoritarianism) of wealth is one in which no one is given incentive to produce wealth.
It’s pretty simple, really. It’s just as Ron Paul says: You can either have Freedom or you can have Tyranny. I choose freedom. How about you?
krisDecember 19th, 2007 at 8:31 pm
Sorry, I meant to say that wealth contributes to “longer, healthier” lives. BS and propaganda only makes us FEEL better, but things like artificial hearts and cell phones actually make us live longer. I’m not joking – can you imagine the positive impact that something as simple as the cell phone has enabled? Production is good, and right now, we’re all being robbed blind. It isn’t right, and it doesn’t matter what form it comes in: Communism, Socialism, Majoritarianism/Democracy, whatever. We need freedom.
