Stunned silence?
March 6th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Well produced video. Well delivered. But what glaringly stands out:
“Buy my book on Amazon.com”
“You can donate to my Foundation”
“You can support our continued efforts by making a contribution to our Political Action Committee”
Can’t fault the guy for making a pitch. But it just came over a bit too strong on the “kee sending money” side.

Hopefully his supporters will continue on those caucus states where the delegation make-ups are still undecided (like Alaska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Nevada, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine) so he can get the majority in the five states he needs to be nominated at the convention, which is th eonly way he’s going to be able to speak before it. This just means that he won’t be campaigning in Mississippi or Pennsylvania for a nomination that’s already been deicided. He’s not a fool.

Even though this is supposed to be his dropping out message, it seems to me that he is saying the same thing he’s been saying for the past month.
March 6th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
ABC just retracted the “suspends” line.
“In earlier version of this report indicated that Paul would “drop out” of the race. In the video, Paul did not use the words “drop out,” opting instead to say the campaign is “winding down,” and he encourages supporters to still cast votes for him. But he referred to his campaign in the past tense.”
So he’s still free to gather delegates, but isn’t under illusions.
March 6th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Hugh Jass, he isn’t dropping out. ABC made that lie (surprise!) and the author of this post fell for it – obviously before watching the video.

I don’t understand all this. Why is Ron Paul still wanting votes, if he isn’t going to run 3rd party??? Or do you think he will??? I am a GOPer, not gonna vote for McCain, waiting for the Constitution Party candidate. Just wanted to drop by to thank you for the heads up on the other 2, Trent!
Oh, and thanks for sharing this video and link on Ron Paul, too!

I wish Ron Paul would grow some wings and set out on his own … it would do so much to excite the Third-Party movement. Why doesn’t he?
On a similar note, I saw an old Romney video the other day … It was like seeing an old friend.
McCain is so dry and boring! lacks conviction, and articulation.
I miss you Mitt! I miss the energy in the field before there was only McCain.
Paul supporters, you are welcome here.

!
Not only did he not say he was dropping out, or even suspending, he also did not say the presidential campaign is winding down. He said that it “will be winding down soon.”
Not even the same thing.

Holly shit, Hacker isn’t 100% retarded.

Because he is an old man and it would be a huge waste of his time?
March 7th, 2008 at 1:03 am
“Because he is an old man and it would be a huge waste of his time?”
Because he appeared to be committed to what he said, and in order to promote that he would need to be working outside the GOP?
Same thing I say to the sad-sacks who are so Obamarrific; look at history— “taking over” or “working from with in” the majors has resulted in what exactly?
Well, “taking over” did work well for the neo-cons; but were they ever really a political movement?
Weren’t they more like WASP Sopranos?
The delight in thugishness – global and domestic? The vulgar corruption? The fondness for absolute power? The occult beliefs in apocalypse? The intricate paranoia?
Now, Fred Thompson could play THAT don!

I love how often I am quoted. It makes me feel special.
There’s no stroke to the ego like reading your own words quoted by someone else.
March 7th, 2008 at 1:51 am
Which is he won’t run as a third party candidate.
March 7th, 2008 at 1:52 am
So whatever happened to him meeting with Barr about something? Did they decide anything?
March 7th, 2008 at 2:02 am
Impatient, much? It was just two days ago that we heard it was going to happen “soon.”
March 7th, 2008 at 4:43 am
Fred C., yes, we are impatient. We want to know what Ron Paul & Bob Barr are going to do with us. We are owned by these paleo donosaurs. We wish to serve.

Weren’t they more like WASP Sopranos?
This comment is not only racist it’s inaccurate.
March 7th, 2008 at 9:54 am
So, ahm, what’s he been doing with all that money that he’s raised?
March 7th, 2008 at 9:56 am
Coke and whores.
March 7th, 2008 at 10:24 am
I think you are confusing Paul from Dumbdero.
March 7th, 2008 at 10:27 am
Eric, the other day our friend Tom Knapp made reference that you wish to destroy the Libertarian Party. I must have missed that since I’ve only been a LP Member since 2000. I’m interested in knowing if this is true and your reasons why. I don’t want to get in a long debate with you , I’m just curious.
March 7th, 2008 at 10:53 am
Bill – dumbdero has been trying to do that for years. Most likely since Ron Paul fired him for doing drugs. He is now a paid neocon shill.

Anyone who wants Ron Paul to run independent and has an account on Ron Paul forums should vote in this thread:
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?p=1333825&posted=1#post1333825
One member there who seems to have contacts with Ron Paul’s family says he will try to relay the results to Paul through his contacts if this poll gets around 200 votes total by the end of the day.

Ron has made it clear he was taking the presidential bid all the way to the convention. Really hard to keep that promise and publish that video last night.
March 7th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
I’m somewhat encouraged by this video, since it may mean he’s actually considering an independent run. This is doubly interesting since it comes after his meeting with Bob Barr earlier this week. Perhaps Barr is starting to convince him to take the Presidential or VP spot on such a ticket?

Bingo.

The Libertarian Party should nominate Ralph Nader and Matt Gonzalez for president and vice president!
