The 2008 presidential race depends on the will of the People of the USA.

The Declaration of Independence tells of people, who through apathy and acceptance of abusive and/or usurping governments allow them to remain in stead of changing them when it is easy and prudent to do so. We are at this stage now.

My campaign offers to work with you to establish the new guards to limit the intrusive and negligent powers of our present government.

It really is up to you.

Sincerely,

Daniel Kingery, Your next President of the United States

This election year, the voice of the People will be heard; but only if we wish it to happen.

The American People are united, in spite of what the media and politicians say to the contrary.

The People want candidates to be bound to their promises.

The People want elected officials to be held accountable for the promises they make that get them elected.

I am the candidate offering the only plans for The People of the United States of America to regain control of our run-away government.

Review my plans at www.portablepublishing.com and sing on as an American willing to correct our political problems.

Sincerely,

Daniel Kingery, President of the United States -Apprentice/Candidate

This is it. This is the deciding event. One of
the main reasons the Media doesn’t cover
Independent and Third Party candidates, is that
there are simply too many of us. Well over one
hundred, in fact. So many that it splits our
voting block into such tiny little pieces that it
is impossible for any of us to even be
significant, much less pose a threat to the
GOP/DEM parties. This is the event that brings us
together as a block. This is the event that
defines our candidates for the Media, so they can
be found and heard. This is the event that tells
everyone who we are, and who they should be
throwing their support to. Quite simply, this is
it.

Our chosen leaders will make us one simple
promise that we can all agree upon: That they
will change the election laws to make Independent
and Third Party access to Congress and the White
House far easier than it is today. So even though
the Candidate of your choice, from your
particular party, may not come out on top, they
may very well do so next time.

There are no losers in this event. Although you
may not do as well as you had hoped in this
event, there are a myriad of staff, advisory, and
appointee positions that will be available in the
new administration. Those who continue on still
need the rest of us, for our support, hard work,
and dedication to our causes. Be prepared and
encouraged to make connections and vie for a
position as the workforce behind our leaders. No
one can run this country alone, and nothing will
get done without an extraordinary staff.

Bring your business cards. There will be ample
time to talk, make contacts, and interview, even
during the debates. Everyone is encouraged to
exchange information and look for ways to work
together towards our common goals. The exchange
of information is one of the primary reasons for
this event. Our leaders will walk away with a
huge amount of new support and national
recognition. But it is up to the supporters to
get organized, and to become an effective force.

Brent Burke, Well, technically I didn't say anything about Root there. Only going by what Eric said. Root could be anybody there. But, agreed. I've never had speech lesson. Dropped out of H.S. so no Debate Society. I mentioned before that upon seeing this video I was urprised at how soft spoken & unanimated I am. Unlike Root & Phillies. Smith seems fast spoken & shrill & has that Root-like back & forth movement. Agreed. Hopefully I'll get better.

Holy Shit! Milnes, that was you?

Dude, you need to clean up your act. That was a pitifully bad performance. You were the worst of the entire field.

Robert,

Let's be honest, you need to have some speech lessons before you can say anything about Root.

Just watched the video. My picks:

1. Root
2. Phillies
3. Jingozian
4. Smith

Root just stood out. Man, he's got a powerful speaking voice. He grabs your attention.

Phillies has improved dramatically. He must have taken speech lessons or something. I don't like his anti-War message, but I increasingly like his delivery and image.

Jingozian is just a good looking guy. And I say that as a very straight heterosexual male. Is it just me, or has he lost some weight from earlier photos?

Smith surprised me. She looked more polished than I would have imagined.

The others were just awful. Get them off the stage. Who in the hell is that guy that wore the blue jeans? Worst of them all.

And where does this Imperator guy get all his money from?

Phillies has gotten much better!

I almost fell asleep listening to the first six candidates give their opening statements. Phillies woke me up, Root got me fired up, and Smith didn't make me fall back asleep.

My picks:

1. Root
2. Phillies
3. Smith
4. Jingozian
5. everyone else

I'm starting to fall for Root. I'm a little scared by that.

Ok... I started to watch the debate, and there's something I had to point out before I continue. What's wrong with WAR?!? He can't keep himself in one place!

"Thomas L. Knapp Says:

Mike,

Yes, the LP nominated Badnarik over Russo and Nolan (and I thought that was a HUGE mistake).

However, regardless of how little you like Badnarik, he was a thousand miles ahead of Bob in terms of actually campaigning for the nomination. He put 20,000 miles on a Kia going to every LP event that would have him. I know he hit Missouri AT LEAST three times pre-nomination. He wrote a book and self-published it ahead of the nomination. He showed up at the convention with produced television ads that he ran on a TV at his campaign’s booth right outside the convention hall. And he kicked ass in the pre-nomination debate.

Frankly, he also busted his ass AFTER the nomination. I saw it firsthand. The guy was a machine. He showed up in St. Louis to get arrested at the presidential debate, wore me out walking the crowd and the marches, went to jail for a few hours, got out, got on a small plane, went to Kansas City that morning, addressed a rally, got back on the plane, went to Carbondale IL that afternoon, addressed another rally … I picked him up in Carbondale to bring him back to St. Louis. He did an interview on the phone after the rally, then another one in the car on the way to St. Louis, then hopped out of the car to get to his hotel room because he had another one scheduled, and the next morning he was on a plane to the next gig. That was 24 hours of his campaign, and I probably didn’t get all of it, and he did that day in and day out for FIVE MONTHS. I think he scheduled one day off during that five months for R&R (his birthday)."

I wish that Badnarik's campaign for Congress hadn't screwed up so badly because if that hadn't happened he'd probably be running for the LP nomination for President this year. Given how weak the field is this time I think that he probably could have won the nomination again.

"The LP got its money’s worth and then some out of Badnarik’s campaign. He polled not far behind Ron Paul 1988 on 1/3 the money and 1/3 the time in saddle as the nominee."

Badnarik did pretty good given the limited resources that he had to work with, but it should be noted that in 1988 there was no internet (the internet is a MAJOR help to non-mainstream candidates), the population of the country was lower in 1988, and the Libertarian Party was in a weaker condition prior to 1988 than it was prior to 2004 (I think that Ron was on the ballot in less states than Badnarik).
