Mike Gravel: The Libertarian Party’s new rap star
While I don’t like Mike Gravel’s latest YouTube as much as last night’s “power to the people vs give peace a chance,” it’s still pretty interesting—and it certainly beats current Libertarian Party Rap King Daniel Imperato’s greatest work. Here’s how Gravel transforms a composition “taken by Charles Manson as elaborate prophecy of a war to arise from racial tensions between blacks and whites” to an indictment of the Viet Nam War, the Iraq War and the entire military-industrial complex.
UPDATE: A site reader requested that I add the following before the Gravel video:
This video contains graphic violence and may not be suitable for viewing by children.
And here’s the world famous “Hil-Bill-Hill-Hil-Jill-Pill-Chill-Bananas Rap” from Pope Daddy Funkmeister Danny O in a Howard Dean moment:
We distort. You deride.

I heard that Gordo wrote the line for Russo (later used by) Badnarik that “anywhere I stand is a free speech zone”—which may be one of the best political lines ever.
“And here’s the world famous “Hil-Bill-Hill-Hil-Jill-Pill-Chill-Bananas Rap” from Pope Daddy Funkmeister Danny O in a Howard Dean moment” is even better.

If only Itch were here to see this.

Wow maybe he has some support everywhere except in the US, but could make an appeal to rappers…and he is a Catholic, maybe the “halleluja” at the end is meant for charismatic Christians? He did not use these “arguments” to explain why he will win during the LP debate. Indeed, if he could only see himself…

Hate the guy’s politics, but love his style.
Too bad he can’t make the same sort of video exposing the violence and hatred of Muslim fanatics who want to destroy America, and violently kill Americans.
Up, that’s already been done: See the new Geert Wilders film FITNA.

This reminds me of Gilbert Gottfried’s stand-up comedy. His jokes are not funny, but he just keeps repeating them. After about the fourth repetition, they become funny.
Gravel’s first few videos where just creepy. Now, after having released several more of the same style, they are incredibly entertaining.

Impewacko did a rap?!? Please tell me this didn’t really happen.

You mean the ones, like Bush’s ally al-Hakim who rule Iraq or the crazies who rule Afghanistan and sentence Christian converts to death? Given the fact that YOU support these islamo-fascist regimes (which Ron Paul sensibly opposes), how can you possibly preach to others?

Gravel, Imperato, and Dondero all in one post and its comments. Yikes.
April 2nd, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Dondero, how about a video showing the violence and hatred of neocons like yourself?
April 2nd, 2008 at 4:49 pm
Nigel Watt, what about me?
April 2nd, 2008 at 6:44 pm
It’s all about you, isn’t it Robert?
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Sure, a video exposing my hatred of those who oppose liberty, and even worse, pretend libertarians who misuse the label, I’m all in favor of that video production.

Skyler McKinley, I’ve done about all I can for your candidate. I said my recommendation is Milnes/Ruwart, failing that Gravel /Ruwart WITH me as Special Advisor. What more do you want?
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:46 pm
The thing between Nigel & I goes back here WAY before your Johnny come lately candidate.
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Do you have any rapping ability Milnes? Imperato’s a tough act to follow.
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:37 pm
These people are at least entertaining; you’re just a dumbass.
April 3rd, 2008 at 12:47 am
Au contraire. Milnes is also an entertaining dumbass.

Too bad he can’t make the same sort of video exposing the violence and hatred of “Christian” fanatics who want to destroy America, and violently kill Americans (and everyone else).
Up (sic), that’s already been done: See the 2006 Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing film Jesus Camp.
For extra fun, google dispensationalism, “Christian Zionism”, “George W. Bush”, and dominionism. Use the + symbol and quotes around terms to see how these concepts interrelate. While you are at it, research PNAC.

Fred C., is this Entertainment To Nite or Third Party Watch?
April 5th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
This is why I like Gravel.
Not as an LP presidential candidate, but as a person. (Definitely not as an LP presidential candidate.)
Go Gravel! (Just don’t run for president as a Libertarian until you alter your views on a variety of issues.)
