Prohibition Party presidential candidate says he’ll probably vote for McCain

Ballot Access News

According to this Orlando Sentinel newspaper story, Prohibition Party presidential candidate Gene Amondson said he will probably vote for the Republican nominee for president.

It is almost always a mistake for any minor party candidate to say that he or she will vote for a major party opponent. In 2004 the Green Party lost a great deal of status when its vice-presidential candidate, Pat LaMarche, was quoted as saying she might vote for the Democratic ticket for president. She later denied she said that, and Ballot Access News does not know whether she really said it or not.

The newspaper says the Prohibition Party won’t be on the Florida ballot this year, but actually the Prohibition Party presidential candidate probably will be on the Florida ballot this year, the first time that party will have been on in Florida since 1924.

I guess Amondson is no rocket scientist, huh?

  2. paulie Says:

I hope the LP does not stoop to such idiocy.

  3. Brian Says:

I guess we can rule out that he was drunk when he said it.

  4. Peter Orvetti Says:

Maybe McCain will vote for him in return.

  5. Andrew Taylor Says:

The Prohibition Party candidate is probably going to vote for a man whose wife is worth around $100 million, because she is the heiress of a BEER DISTRIBUTION fortune! ROTFLMAO! What a tool this clown is!

  6. Eric Dondero Says:

The irony of this, as pointed out by Andrew Taylor, is priceless.

Yup, McCain’s a beer guzzler himself. Unlike our current teetolar President. And the Prohibition Party candidate is now supporting him.

Does American politics get any better than that?

Twenty years ago, I had a much higher metabolism, drank every day, and thus could drink a fifth of whiskey in three hours and remain standing. ( Yes, I was a teenager, but very few people knew that, and wouldn’t have believed me if I told them).

John McCain could drink me under the table back then, and as far as I know, still can.

Wow. Every time I dress up as the grim reaper, walk around New Orleans, and proclaim myself a proud Libertarian, I’m asked not to stand in front of stores. Damn you, high flying presidential candidate Gene Amondson Maybe I should down a few dozen shots of vodka and do Grim Reaper jumping jacks in front of the pie cooling window of his campaign headquarters.

    I’m hungry now….and thirsty….I’m gonna bake a pie….and vodka….

  9. Jeff Wartman Says:

The nanny-state supporting Prohibition Party seems to want to support nanny-state supporting John McCain. Why is anyone surprised?

  10. John Killian Says:

Gene Amondsen is a fine man. He has long carried on an anti-alcohol campaign and recognizes that the Prohibition Party is a vehicle for advancing that effort.
Forgive his realism concerning his own chances.
Besides, Gene does not live in Florida.

  11. Catholic Trotskyist Says:

Congratulations Gene for understanding the “lesser of two evils” strategy. Though, I wish he would support Barack Obama, as he is the true candidate for the Christian Socialist Revolution that he seems to be pining for.

As I said in another thread, God led me to this site after the death of Gene’s prohibitionist rival Earl Dodge last fall. This news is another sign of God’s great plans for this sight. I will be writing to Gene to see if even if he won’t support Obama, he will at least support my “fringe alliance strategy.”

Sadly, Robert Milnes’s progressive alliance strategy won’t work, but I have developed a much better strategy based on an alliance between the Green, libertarian
and constitution parties, the various socialist movements and centrist independents, and other smaller groups such as fascists, feudalists, monarchists
and syndicalists, to initiate the following goals.

    1. The electoral college is abolished.
    2. The presidential election uses a national Majority Runoff system. This will change us from a republic to a democracy.
    3. Congress is elected through proportional representation.

Third parties should spend most of their energies pushing for these constitutional amendments, using graphic protests in public locations. Otherwise, the
efforts of all of them are doomed to do nothing more than push the major parties slightly in one direction, and ruin the chances of the parties that their
candidates are most closely aligned with, while gaining such small failing numbers for themselves. The people who visit this site are by definitions on
the fringes of society. It is important for the fringe to get together. This strategy is gaining the support of many political scientists across the nation,
and I will continue to post it several times a week here until it is adopted. Fortunately, we have the Obama Revolution to save our country for now.
    The revolution will be televised.
Please pray for the pope and please pray for Barack Obama. Amen.

    = BURN!

  13. CT Says:

Catholic Trotskyite- are you okay? I mean, are you serious or just hamming it up? I dig what you say about electoral reform and all, but third parties have factions within themselves that struggle with each other. This is obvious from following developments in the LP and CP. As far as the commies- their infighting and squabbles hinge on ideological gymnastics that are incomphrensible. Third parties are not mature enough to unite for a common goal.

  14. Catholic Trotskyist Says:

Exactly CT, this is why I am criticizing the very concept of third parties. I think there is very little chance of this strategy actually happening, but I want to keep mentioning it to them so they keep being confronted with their incompetence and start to feel guilty.

Yeah, and the tragedy is …he drinks with that skank, Hitlary.

“but I want to keep mentioning it to them so they keep being confronted with their incompetence and start to feel guilty.”

I just feel guilty because I haven’t had the opportunity to drink half a keg and piss in your face yet. Ooops! The PP’s gonna have a problem w/that one. HAHAHAHAHHA

  17. Catholic Trotskyist Says:

Yes Dave, as a drinker myself, in fact a person who is drunk at this minute, it is certainly a laughable irony. However, Gene Amondson is the first person I will write to in quest of him possibly supporting my Fringe Alliance strategy, in order to make up for the betrayal of his beliefs.
