WE in the Constitution Party stand by our PLATFORM, word for word. We are very proud of it....word for word. Our PLATFORM does NOT change with the wind at every turn or curve! It is the very "soul" of the party.
THAT is something all the other parties just can't figure out or comprehend.
Our PLATFORM reflects the views of most American voters on the streets of America because, it is putting AMERICA FIRST. We will put it up against ANY other political party anyday.Hey! We have a Vietnam Veteran running for Vice President on the Constitution party! Darrell Castle! Hey McAmnesty-McWrong-McCain....incoming!!!!!! Bring the Troops home and put them on our borders! -Larry Breazeale, Msgt.(ret.) USAF

Just because the LP platform might say one thing, it doesn't mean every LP candidate believes in them. We need to find a way to wedge between the pro-open border crowd and the anti-illegal immigration crowd in order to draw votes from both groups.

And need I remind you, when our founding fathers drafted the Constitution of the United States, they created the largest free trade and free immigration zone in history and the result was widespread economic prosperity that we still enjoy today.

Mr. Dylan,
Be advised.....no matter who gets the LP nomination, THAT candidate will be saddled with the official Libertarian platform of OPEN BORDERS and LEGALIZATION OF DRUGS. Yeah, THAT will go real far with the average voter on the street! The platform of the CP will go very far with the average voter on the street because it is COMMON SENSE and it is merely a REFECTION OF THE CONSTITUTION. I strongly believe, with ALL my heart, if the 'founding fathers' could come back from the dead, they too would be proud dedicated Constitution party members!

Something about how Howard Phillips tries to dismiss the LP just irks me. I enjoyed the interview up until that point.

For the record, Ron Paul is a Lifetime Member of the Libertarian Party. He has remained active with the LP since he was our presidential candidate 20 years ago. He praised the work of our two-time presidential nominee Harry Browne on the floor of the House of Representatives upon Browne's passing. He addressed the Libertarian convention in 2004 and openly endorsed Michael Badnarik at that time. On the other hand, the good Doctor Paul has no clear ties to the Constitution Party, so Howard Phillips and the CP need to stop trying to claim him as one of their own.

Now, why would the champion of the constitution be a Libertarian? Ron Paul understands that in politics, you must build a coalition of support from a broad cross-section of society, that liberty is a uniting force which makes it possible for each of us to have our piece of the American dream without trampling the equal rights of others. From what I can tell, the Constitution Party can never be a dominant force in American politics because its member base is determined to exclude so many different kinds of people to push a lofty, theocratic agenda. For a number of reasons, while I embrace much of their platform, I feel that my love of liberty is not sufficient for membership in the Constitution Party. This is a party that chooses to be small by its unwillingness to accept any diversity of thought in the ranks.

Regarding Ron Paul's philosophy:
1. Yes, he is Pro-Life and simultaneously believes that the federal government should play no role whatsoever on this matter. No Roe v.s Wade. No public funding. No federal abortion police.

2. Free trade is ALWAYS better than government-managed trade schemes. History has well demonstrated the destructive and pervasive effects of protectionism.

3. Immigration: Of course we have to enforce our laws as best we can and it is not economically feasible to continue down the path we are on. As a Libertarian, I don't think it's very compassionate to give someone a free ride by raising taxes on everyone else and I find it especially hard to justify offering all of these entitlements to those who break our laws to get here. Secure the borders and rescind the welfare state.
Note: Libertarians like Dr. Paul hold a republic with open borders as our ideal. This was the policy that allowed this nation to grow and prosper and serve as a beacon of hope for the "huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore". And that is the America that we could have again if our government were constitutionally small.

4. There is value in the study of Austrian economics, the devastating effects of victimless crimes, and trusting individual to follow their own moral code. Not every public policy needs to come out of some interpretation of the Bible.

BOTH Dr. Baldwin and CP founder Howard Phillips did an outstanding job!
Our party is lucky indeed to have these men in our ranks. The CP will succeed for America. It is just a matter of time.
