To Mr. "kalipay Says"...
I saw and heard Mr. Scott Bradley at the CP convention. I was very impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is tall, young, articulate, very knowledgeable
of the issues and the constitution. His delivery system was right on the mark. He grabs your attention. He is running for Congress in Utah. There is no doubt he will do great things. He is a man to watch! This guy is going places. I wish him well. I am honored having him our CP ranks.

I had never heard Mr. Castle speak more than a few sentences before listening to his acceptance speech that afternoon. I was encouraged to hear that he was actually not as bad as I had expected: I gained a little hope! Does anyone know if Scott Bradley will be made a regional VP? The way our states' votes were divided up, it was not going to change anything, so I put in a vote for him.

I think a Libertarian should have been chosen as the VP. Then we could have a fusion party campaign.

I first met Darrell Castle at Bill Shearer's funeral (Bill was the founder of the Calif. AIP..and if there was no AIP..there would NOT of been a CP)and I met with Darrell at General Jones home in Nevada two months ago. Gen. Jones is the founder & National Chairman 'emeritas' of the CP's NVC (National Veterans Coalition). I got to really know Darrell at this meeting.
Darrell is a great American patriot and he is a fellow veteran. He served in Vietnam as a USMC officer. Darrell has that "Bill Shearer Sense of Humor", wit and easy going common sense about things. He is an all around good guy. He is a CP loyalist in every degree. Darrell was appointed temporary NVC National Chairman until I retired from my Sheriff's Department, as a deputy sheriff, after 27 years. I retired last March 1st 2008, and General Jones has recently appointed me as NVC National Chairman. Darrell heart is with the "used & abused" veterans ,
all across this nation. The Constitution party and Chuck & Darrell will , if elected, make sure THAT does not happen again! We in the CP and the NVC certainly welcome Alan Keyes into our party. (We do not believe in casting people out.) However, our beloved CP Platform and its principles DO MEAN SOMETHING! We were NOT about to COMPROMISE our platform and get 'starstruck' over someone like Keyes, just so we could get better press & media. That is why the CP's motto is....
                          "PRINCIPLES OVER POLITICS"

To do anything less would make us out to be 'phoney's'...not really standing for anything. Looking back from that convention, Keyes should of came down a lot more to our level, and try to come to at least a compromise, on his positions on foreign aid, the United Nations, and the Iraq war. But, he was too 'bull-headed'. All to his demise. It is kind of like the Keyes Campaign representing a big bowl of tempting ice cream except, there is a little piece of a speck of chicken sh_t on the mound of ice cream.....no one in the CP is going to eat it. I wish Keyes well and I hope he remains in the CP but, he has to wake up to reality about those other "KEY ISSUES". And to CPers and the NVC, those issues are critical and non-compromising.

I think baldwin chose castle simply because they know each other better and are able to get together more often than he would with scott bradley. I also preferred scott bradley but went with baldwins wishes.

Is Castle a Mormon? If not, the answer may at least be somewhat religious. Baldwin is a Baptist pastor by profession.

"Trent, I gotta say that I never saw Gary Odom move so fast as when he came over to talk to you after you spoke against Baldwin’s choice."

Gary had legitimate concerns that I didnt understand what was going on. I wasn't speaking out against the idea of "regional VPs"--I wanted the convention to vote for VP,rather than the leadership choosing a member of the "Old Gaurd".

"Who were the VP candidates, what were their strengths, and why did Baldwin choose Castle?"

The three main VP candidates were Mary Starrett (Who withdrew), Scott Bradley (former candidate for Senator in Utah and constitutional scholar), and Darrell Castle (attorney). Castle's strength is that he has money and is an attorney. Mary Starrett is personable, from Oregon (and the west in general), and female. Scott Bradley is a mormon, from the west, and a GREAT speaker.
Some people are saying Baldwin didnt choose Castle, but I cant speak to that. I just wanted the Convention to vote.

Bradley or Starrett would have been very good choices since they can cover the western half of the US. I ultimately went along with Baldwin's wishes out of respect for him. If we trust him to lead our party then we should trust his choice for VP.

Silver,

I supported Scott Bradley for VP. This was because he's a good speaker, a constitutional scholar, a mormon, and a member of a western party--it balanced the ticket.

Iv seen no real evidence of Castle being able to reach out to Vets.

How was he selected? Who were his opponents? What was the vote count?

I mean, he seems fine, and I understand wanting to have a veteran, but wouldn't the colnel professor fellow from Michigan be a better choice if that was the prefered road?

It really seems to me that he's just a party insider. I respect the veterans coalition, but I doubt this man has wide appeal to veterans. I wonder if the CP will even be able to top their 2004 wins. Back then, they seemed to be a very fast growing party, now I fear they've slowed to a snail's pace.
