They're looking at a lot of crops - switchgrass, sugarcane (this is big in Brazil, but destroying the rainforests), algae. Algae holds the most promise I think, but electric cars are better than anything else out there.

Aside from the scientific argument against corn ethanol (i.e. energy used up producing it vs. the energy it would create), I think most leftists, including Greens, oppose the use of resources towards corn ethanol production simply because those resources could be used towards producing food instead. This issue has had a light shone on it of late because of the recent spike in world food prices.

Absolutely, Ayn! I don't know a single environmentalist (I consider myself one) that is in favor of using corn ethanol! It's a corporate scam that is polluting the land, fresh water, and oceans, it's stealing tax payer money, and there's really no purpose to it. Except, that is, getting companies like Cargill more money, through their manipulation of government policy.

This seems like as good a place as any to ask this:

Does the Green Party join in opposing the environmentally wasteful and damaging Corn Ethanol movement?

End corporate welfare entirely.

Also, why is this posted under Mike Gravel when it has nothing to do with Gravel or Gravel's party?
