NOW is the best opportunity ever for the LP to grab that issue and build a real case for rights and freedom. Many of us might have liked a different ticket from the LP, but what we have is far better than what they have.

I am new to the Libertarian Party. But, I have figured one thing, Steve Kubby is a “Class Act” No one forced Kubby to write this letter. Kubby is doing what’s best for The Libertarian Party and The Libertarian Movement. Steve Kubby for Governor in 2010. Bravo Steve Kubby.

Agreed. I’ll send all the dollars I can to Kubby for Governor 2010. I didn’t know much about him aside from his imprisonment but his personal integrity has impressed the hell out of me.

A very insightful statement. So given that Barr has burned his bridges and that the human nature of politicians is to self promote them selves we can expect that he will do everything he can to have the highest vote count of a third party candidate in recent history. It is good that he is motivated. The down side is he may make compromises that hurt the LP in the future.

I really don’t want to see the Libertarian Party become a wing of the Republican Party unless the Republican Party whole heartedly adapts the positions of the Libertarian Party.

I don’t think this election will make or break the LP. I hope it grows the party. I hope the party retains its best characteristics its best ideals.

If the Barr campaign does pull disaffected republican, independents and social libertarians into the party, it will also be interesting to watch the effect on the behavior of the Republican and Democratic Parties.

Not a very persuasive argument. The pickings are pretty slim in the LP. Given his big-time connections in the GOP, he could be making a secure, cushy six figure salary as a lobbyist working for the Israel of defense lobbies if he wanted to which would easily exceeed anything he could make by “milking” the LP. By aligning himself the the ACLU, the LP, and daring to a spout a non-interventionist line (since or not), he has burned his bridges to such a career.

Dondero doesn’t know what he wants. I think his main goal is to be in a campaign, almost any campaign where he can be regarded as important and a “leader.” He’d be in Libertarians for McCain riight now if other people were in it to do him homage. Unfortunately for him, he was pretty much the one and only member.

In 2004, Dondero led the nationwide effort for Libertarians for Bush.

Could it be that Mr Dondero is here to disable and destroy the Libertarian Party?

Incrementalism could work fast enough. If Barr got elected and actually managed to cut the budget by a puny 5% a year, then after four years the federal government would be two-thirds of its current size, since we could count on the Fed to create at least 5% inflation.

After a second term, we’d be down to 43%, a significant improvement.

Sure, I’d prefer 10%, and I think David Friedman and the Tannehills make some good arguments, but right now all of that is irrelevant.

His website puts him on record of non-intervention and he just issues another newsrelease attack the feds for violating personal privacy.

Also, if Barr was just another “neocon” why would he want to split the Republican vote and thus perhaps put Obama in the White House?

Barf could care less who wins the White House. He is in it for personal gain (see PAC history) and nothing else.

If you think he has suddenly become such a devout Libertarian, then explain why he is currently funding Republicans that are running against Libertarians?
