Message from Tom Knapp for Congress

http://www.tomknappforcongress.com

Dear friends and supporters,

I recently visited Denver as a delegate to our party’s national convention, at which we nominated Bob Barr for President of the United States. Congressman Barr’s running mate is businessman Wayne Allyn Root. Between now and November, I’ll be working hard to earn
your vote for our presidential ticket as well as for myself.

So far, my campaign has consisted of attending a few community events, distributing fliers and talking one on one with Missourians in the 2nd District. Over the coming months you’ll see more of that—and you’ll start seeing mailings, lit drops, yard signs and the other trappings of a real political campaign as well.

Your legacy still stands as stoner Steve Kubby’s uncommunicative Communications Chair. You [and doper Kubby] still have no web site postal address, not even a POB or a PMB! You [and glass eyed Kubby] still have no Veterans platform[s]. Like federal felon ‘Puke’ Cunningham, you are my classmate and I am ashamed! You can tell that public policy, politics, and communications are YOUR GAME —-not!

  3. Thomas L. Knapp Says:

Actually, Mr. Lake, there’s a postal address for my campaign clearly posted on my campaign web site. Just because you haven’t looked for it doesn’t mean it’s not there.

I asked for your ASSISTANCE in framing a veterans platform for Kubby, and you suddenly went quiet (after months of falsely claiming to have been attempting to contact his campaign). You don’t care about veterans—you care about macho flashing, and sliming others, in blog comments to get attention for yourself. As soon as you get a positive response, you slink away until you believe that the coast is clear to come back and start whining again without the past being remembered.

When and if you’re ready to get serious, let me know. Until then, pray spare us all your incoherent wailings.

  4. Mike Theodore Says:

Knapp, will you be updating your campaign site as well? Right now, it’s very light. BTW, I can’t wait to see a picture of a Tom Knapp for Congress yard sign. :)

  5. Thomas L. Knapp Says:

    Mike,

The update above is FROM my campaign site—but yes, it’s pretty light. Preparing for the national convention, etc., didn’t leave me as much time as I would have liked to work on it.

My first spending priority is a postcard mailing to several lists in the district, followed by a lit drop in some key precincts, HOPEFULLY with yard signs already in hand (so that I can offer them to the postcard recipients/people who find the literature on their doors). If I have to, I’ll do the mailing first and the signs later …

... but yes, signs are in the plan and I’ll get a pic up as soon as I have them and get some placed. I may (haven’t decided yet) also send them as a “premium gift” to donors as a teaser. Five $50 donations = 100 signs if the prices I’ve been looking at for signs/frames hold true. Obviously I’d be happy to mail out five signs to get 100 more for the district.

    Regards,
    Tom

Is this the same T. Knapp busting RP’s chops for not being “pure enough” ideologically….

Now your playing backup bitch to the Barr/WAR team?

Does Root make you swallow is he content to just let you suck?

  7. Kelly Parker Says:

    Give em hell Mr. Knapp!

  8. Thomas L. Knapp Says:

    stevec,

I don’t recall “busting Paul’s chops” for “not being ‘pure enough.’”

Paul’s positions on immigration and marriage aren’t libertarian at all, so they don’t even register on a “purity test” scale.

I concentrated less on the ideological aspects of the racist, xenophobic and homophobic newsletter articles than I did on their stump-stupidity and on the fact that Paul lied about them.

And I concentrated on the fact that Paul chose to run on the ballot line of a party that always has been, is, and always will be an anti-libertarian political party, regarding that as a bad strategy.

I can’t say that I’m enthusiastic about Barr/Root’s positions on immigration and marriage, but they’re starting to at least REGISTER on the libertarian ideological scale.

So far, the evidence that Barr has played footsie with the racists in any significant way is far less compelling than the evidence that Paul has, if for no other reason than that the evidence that Paul has is irrefutable. And I haven’t caught Barr lying about it yet.

Finally, Barr and Root sought, and received, the nominations of a libertarian political party rather than of an anti-libertarian political party.

It remains to be seen whether or not Barr/Root’s contributions to the libertarian movement in the 2008 election cycle will be positive, and if so to what degree. So far, Paul’s contributions to the libertarian movement in the 2008 election cycle have been, on balance, in the negative.

This is Ron Paul on DOMA

While I do not concur entirely w/ RP on immigration, there are many tried and true libertarian icons who hold views similar to his: specifically Hans H. Hoppe, Lew Rockwell, and I believe even such sacred cows as Rothbard and Mises could be placed into this category…..

Theorhetically, if the entire nation were privatized this immigration debate would evaporate as I can let anyone on my property I desire or exclude same – as can anyone else…. I have reservations with a lot of the “build a wall crowd” in part because it appeals to something very dark and base in the human psyche…. but to have open immigration policies concurrent with a welfare state is an recipe for disaster….

I don’t believe RP is a big fan of a “wall” either, though he voted for an immigration bill that had a partial wall as one of its components….

I’ve made a mental “red blinking light list” of parties I’ve placed list because of what I smelled of a perverse pleasure in giving RP grief about the Newsletter Controversy…. It is not a HATE list…. It is not a HIT list…. Its a “Don’t Turn Your Back On These Guys” list…. You are on it. Ms

    Q) Do you think it was a coincidence this story was released the day of the NH primary?

    Q) Someone told that New Republic POS where to go fishing in the Auburn (??) archives for the old newsletters…. Who?

The fact that you are working for the same crew as Rittberg would give a prudent man pause.

  10. Steven R Linnabary Says:

    Tom-

Don’t you have a more recent photo than the one from your high school yearbook? :-)

    Good luck on your campaign!

    PEACE
    Steve

I took no pleasure at all in giving Paul grief about “the newsletter controversy.” As a matter of fact, I defended him for several YEARS against allegations that he actively and willingly associated himself with racists. My reaction to the revelation that I had been wrong was anything but one of pleasure.

    Q) Do you think it was a coincidence this story was released the day of the NH primary?

Well … yes, probably. If it had been intended to affect that primary, the best time to release it would have been the week before.

    Q) Someone told that New Republic POS where to go fishing in the Auburn (??) archives for the old newsletters…. Who?

Actually, it was the library of one of the universities in Kansas (I don’t recall offhand if it was KU or K State). I have no idea who pointed Kerchik in that direction. If you’re implying it was me, well, I didn’t know Kerchik then (and don’t now), and had no idea that the archive in question existed until I read about it in TNR.

The fact that you are working for the same crew as Rittberg would give a prudent man pause.

If I was working for the same crew as Mr. Dondero, I’d take pause myself. So far as I know, I’m not working for anyone for whom he is also working.

  12. Thomas L. Knapp Says:

    Steve L,

That photo is old, but not THAT old! I’ll get a new head shot taken soon. Thanks for the good wishes!

    ————————————————————————————————————————-

I wasn’t implying it was you….. Somebody sent Kerchik there….Somebody with (1) knowledge and (2) an axe to grind….I understand those excerpts from the newsletters were used by his opponent when RP was going back to congress (1992 election?).... but that archive gave that mischevious little cretin a volume of ammo where he could just cherry pick the most solacious excerpts and the Italicize or Boldface those pieces in TNR…..

From what I understand, those excerpts were NEW but not QUALITATIVELY different than the stuff put out by Paul’s 1992 Congressional race…. He had gone through what, 6, elections without any of this stuff.

I’m not a LP historian….. The rumor mills generally attributed this stuff to LR and his crew but I have no freaking idea…. I understand Rothbard (who backed Pat Buchanan in 1992) as purely a POLITICAL STRATEGY tried to court the anti – war LEFT in the 60/70’s to no avail and then decided to go after the Redneck Right (the Duke Voters) in the 1980’s….

I have a publication though E – Bay called the Rothbard Rockwell Report and much of the verbiage is quite similar to the excerpts in the RP newsletters….

I think it DISGUSTING that many people who were taking cheap potshots at RP give Rothbard a pass as though he’s some kind of sacred cow…. [including Ms. McElroy – another memberof the list] If you’d like T Knapp, I will put together some clippings from the Rothbard Rockwell Report…. Moreover I have no idea if Rothbard et al meant what they wrote – or of this was some short – sighted outreach/fundraising plan for economically distressed white trailer trash….

The only person disturbed by these letters who struck me a genuinely concerned (while troubled) was Sheldon Richman of FFF. He seems like a pretty good guy…. I remember listening to McElroy and this guy Randy or Bradley or something on FDR (with Stefan Molyneux) and they seemed so overjoyed about the whole thing they had to constrain themselves from giggling and I was seething with anger.

He was most likely paid off. His 180 after the convention (and meeting with Barf) on Barf is rather suspicious. Then he goes home and announces his campaign… hmm.

  15. Clark Says:

..yo knapp,..i have no doubt you are the most decent among the republicrats ‘running’ for orifice….

..but seeing’s how, if elected, your days will be complete with issues involving ‘illions of dollars’ maybe you could read up a little on ‘monetary realism’..

...so that, for example, you could explain to the brainwa$hed fucks, village idiots, etc. in washington, etc. that instead of ‘TAXING’ us ‘directly’ via the income tax etc.. so as to acquire ‘federal reserve tokens’ for ‘the treasury’ etc.

...the numb fucks could merely create the money they ‘need’/want out of thin air…just like the bankster$ they charter/create do now!..

...(and i do apologize for any confusion i have created amongst any numb fuck republicrats out there to whom their ‘money’ is a mystery while britney spears’ shaved head, etceterot ad nauseam, is ‘common knowledge’) ;o)

  16. Clark Says:

...”so as to acquire ‘federal reserve tokens’ for ‘the treasury’ etc.”

..ok, i maybe hear a couple of you who’ve truly ‘followed the money’...all the way back..(as much as possible)

..so to cut you off at the pass, “at least that’s what they tell us”.. ;o)

  17. Eric Dondero Says:

Nice, though rather ironic, that Tom Knapp has joined the Bob Barr/Wayne Root team.

Good to see you’ve come to your senses Mr. Knapp.

    stevec,

    You write:

“I think it DISGUSTING that many people who were taking cheap potshots at RP give Rothbard a pass as though he’s some kind of sacred cow”

I agree. In fact, that Rothbard/Rockwell strategy seems to have been the basis for Paul’s newsletter approach, and I’ve said so elsewhere.

    Quoth disinter:

“He was most likely paid off. His 180 after the convention (and meeting with Barf) on Barf is rather suspicious. Then he goes home and announces his campaign… hmm.”

I’ve received no money from Barr, or from Root, or from their combined campaign. Nor have I received an offer of a job with the campaign [1], nor do I expect to receive any such offer, nor have I decided whether or not I’ll accept such an offer if one is tendered.

My “meeting” with Barr consisted of shaking his hand and pledging my support.

There was no “180”—I publicly stated right here on TPW, prior to going to the convention, that I’d be sticking with the party and supporting its ticket regardless of the nomination outcome.

I announced my campaign in March and began actively campaigning in early April, not after returning from the convention.

    Regards,
    Tom Knapp

    1. Actually, I did receive a one-off (rather than staff position) offer PRIOR to the convention to do some writing for a firm which I believed at the time to be working for the Barr campaign. I declined the offer.

Ron Paul’s news letter was found in the stacks at K State [Manhattan], probably near the Runners World/ Distance Running News. [Founder Bob Anderson was a student until he loaded up the station wagon and moved to Beverly Hills, er, ah, Mountain View [California].

I found your Normandy [Missouri] mailing address. A bunch of Concurrent Conscript, Fares Doctrine, Unfair Divorce, and Lethal Veterans Home stuff is in the mail. Items that Steve Kubby should have gotten two [or three or four] years ago at Arrowhead [California]! Like Kubby, I had to go to the state election official and HER web site. Your Normandy address is hidden in plain site?

Prove that one thing I have said in the past three years [Kubby, et al] is false! This reminds me of the half a decade fight to get veterans issues recognized in San Diego County [California]. Told to put up or shut up, I wrote an eight piece, detailed expose of CALVETS/CDVA.

The SDLP condensed it and ran it in their print/ email journal. I was unable to down load it. A real group fighting for real freedom, liberty, justice and abused veterans would have gladly sent me a copy. [Especially since my intention was to copy and mail to mailing list. ]

County Chair Edward Tesseler’s solution? I should pay my $25 and get the SDLP news letters for a year. [You know the ones WITH OUT my veterans article!] Well, duh! I finally wrote him a $5 check for ONE COPY [S&H] of my article. It never came! [Gypsies, tramps and thieves…...]

When I [photo copy of my canceled check in my wallet] cornered him in public and demanded my five dollars back, he reluctantly gave me five ones. I COUNTED THEM OUT LOUD IN A CROWDED ROOM. He turned five shades of red ——-as well he should.

We demand SOME honesty from whores, pimps, and other Washington and Sacramento crooks like federal felon [and U of Misery alum] Puke Cunningham, my class mate and my former [do nothing] congress member. Adn we don’t give it back any more than the Dems and GOP!

The Libs are notorious about saying one thing and doing an other. And as for organization: “herding cats!” [And selfish and cheap and miserly!]

The Constitution Party is not about the Constitution! And THEIR Veterans Committee does nothing for veterans. [Don’t take my word for it ——check it out your self…...]

And the reform movement! It is currently [like California Prisons] in Federal Recievership. The Reform Party, especially the Texas Banditos and the Jewish Mafia, needs to REFORM ITS SELF. [California: I am suing both the current and the former state chairs!]

You Libertarians are your own worst enemies! Kinda like the Anti Abortion Party and the Deform Parties….....

REFORM PARTY OF THE UNITED STATES

STATEMENT OF CHAIRMAN RODNEY MARTIN REGARDING CURRENT LEADERSHIP AND LEGAL STATUS OF THE RPUSA

As the Public is well aware, the RPUSA has been deadlocked in years of litigation and disputes regarding its leadership and direction.

The Party that once came very near capturing the White House as a result of the grassroots efforts of every day people obtain ballot access in all 50 States, just 10 years ago, has today devolved into a handful of State Party Organizations divided in to two Camps, just 5 States remain

    have ballot access.

Recently some State party groups joined the new Independence Party of America, who themselves are attempting to seize the RPUSA Marks and Name, while still building their own separate National 3rd Party, of course this can’t happen.

Finally, the two sides came together and in the 193rd Judicial District Court of Texas, Judge Carl Ginsburg appointed a Court appointed Receiver for the RPUSA and declared the prior 2005 Yuma Convention of the RPUSA, which had only been attended by a handful of individuals from Arizona and California, to be invalid and ordered a new Convention to be held in accordance with the 2003 RPUSA Constitution. The Judge issues strict Guidelines as to who may participate and enjoined the RPUSA from conducting non routine business not in accordance with the 2003 Constitution and ruled that ALL State parties had to receive Notice for ALL Meetings.

The Judge’s Orders are posted at WWW.REFORMPARTYUSA.US.

Chairman Rodney Martin directed the implementation of a interim Reform Party Web Site at the request of Party Members after former RPUSA member refused to publish relevant legal information or even publish a web site or newsletter at all, and when a web site was eventually published, it directed the public to the National Chairman of the Independence Party of America’s personal e-mail and personal web sites.

With the appointment of the Court Appointed Receiver, Mrs. Kay Crews, by Court Order on April 11, 2008, Mfrs. Crews for all purposes became Trustee for the RPUSA and all former Officers no longer exercised any binding authority. Chairman Martin according respects the decision of the court and directs all RPUSA business to be either deferred until after the July national Convention where new Leadership will be elected under Court Supervision, or direct any inquiries to the Court appointed Receiver, Mrs. Kay Crews. Anyone wishing the RPUSA to forward any inquiry to Mrs. Crews may do so via e-mail.

The Public is cautioned that regardless of any representation or any official type looking materials produced by former officials of the RPUSA or officials of the Independence Party of America, this includes Messers John Blare and Frank MacKay. These groups of individuals or entities cannot and do not legally spe
