The Spoiler Argument
Libertarian Marc Guttman makes a compelling argument:
The Democrats and Republicans are the spoilers in the most important way. We have let them spoil the principles and benefits of self-government that had allowed us to create the most free, prosperous and peaceful society on earth.Year after year these two parties bring us further down the road away from individual rights, personal responsibility and constitutional law towards mob rule and tyranny. They have sold out our liberties and property to cronies, high bidders and appetizing, special-interest voting blocks. And despite some disagreement on some marginal issues, the two parties are more similar than different, essentially promoting government and authoritarianism.
In almost every election cycle, there will be candidates with principles (be they libertarian, progressive, green, conservative, socialistic, etc.) on the ballot. The key role McCain and the eventual Democratic nominee will play in this election is a spoiler role for the candidates of principle.

The dems and repubs argument falls into dislogic when, as claimed by Warren Christopher,
that Harry Browne cost Gore the Florida election. Or when conservative pundit Michael
Medved claimed that the ‘06 Senate race in Virginia was lost by the repub because
of the Green Party candidate!

Why does that sound strangely familiar?
