New key McCain staffer previously said he doesn’t want votes from Paul supporters.
Here’s the way Jim Lesczynski tells the tale:
As the Ron Paul Revolutionaries look forward to tonight’s epic debate on whether they should throw their support to McCain or Barr, the McCain camp has made it clear that Paul’s supporters aren’t welcome. Michael Goldfarb, neocon blogger at The Weekly Standard and deputy communications director for the McCain campaign, writes:… but let me just say to Ron Paul supporters everywhere, and on behalf of the New Right (by which I assume Paul means the Jew Right), get lost. There should be plenty of room for the Paulnuts in Obama’s big tent.
Whole thing here. On the other hand, I’m certain the Bob Barr campaign would be happy to welcome the Revolutionaries home.
I’m sure Russ Verney wouldn’t have wasted a moment to tell me not to “let the door hit you on the backside on your way out” had I invoked religion or ethnicity in such a manner—or told a very important block of voters to go take a hike.

Outrageous! The only thing more outrageous would be if the Democrats rejected our right to even run candidates!
Oh wait…

This quote if from March, I am surprised no one noticed it before.
June 4th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
I don’t think that the McCain supporters have too much to worry about as long as Bob Barr, a friend of Congressman Dr. Paul, is running for president as a Libertarian just as Congressman Dr. Paul did twenty years ago.
June 4th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Eric,
I think it was probably noticed because Bill Kristol just announced Goldfarb’s new job.
June 4th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Baldwin is closer on the issues han Barr to Paul. I could be wrong but I do not know of an issue that Paul and Baldwin disagree on. True RP supporters should support CB.
June 4th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
So this statement is a lie:
‘As the Ron Paul Revolutionaries look forward to tonight’s epic debate on whether they should throw their support to McCain or Barr, the McCain camp has made it clear that Paul’s supporters aren’t welcome. Michael Goldfarb, neocon blogger at The Weekly Standard and deputy communications director for the McCain campaign, writes:’
The statement was made today, June 4, 2008. Michael Goldfarb posted the quoted material on March 19, 2008, over two months ago. At that time Goldfarb was presumably not yet working for McCain, since his leave of absence from the Weekly Standard began on June 2. So there are two lies.
June 4th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
The headline on this post also seems to be a lie, unless there is evidence that Goldfarb was a ‘key McCain staffer’ in March of 2008. That should be corrected.
June 4th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
We wouldn’t support McCain the first place. What idiots
! LOL
!
June 4th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
it’s not a lie it shows you the kind of people McCain is hiring for his campaign, it sends a clear message that he’s not interested in libertarians… come on, everyone knows Ron has a huge following even McCain, he is quick to suck up to Clinton and her supporters but not to significant voters who are natural conservatives, that is just bad political strategy and he and the GOP will pay for it.
June 4th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Michael Goldfarb? Sounds like just another Israel first, America second zionist. Don’t worry Goldie, you won’t be getting any of our votes. Count on it.
June 4th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
yeah its lies. it does show the kind of people. but still.. bunch of errors
June 4th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
To all you McCainiacs
What should be important to everyone is whoever gets picked should fulfill their job according the country’s rule book, the Constitution.
When you are watching professional sports everyone expects the judges to not take sides or have their own agenda. They are expected to make sure that both sides stick to the rules. I don’t see why a President or any other person “SWORN” to uphold and defend it should have a “platform” The platform has been laid out since 1776 and if the rules are to change, there are appropriate ways to do it and that doesn’t mean voting for the next Dictator because you like the platform of that Dictator.
For those of you that think America is a Democracy or that the Federal Reserve is Federal, please do your country and the rest of us a favor by staying home on election day. You are far too uninformed to be choosing our next leader. America is a Republic and the Federal Reserve is privately owned with 12 member banks.
For those of you who just can’t figure out what it is going through the minds of the Paul supporters I would suggest for starters watching the online videos Overview of America and America Freedom to Fascism.
I think I can speak for most Paul supporters when I say that living in this country is like being on an ice burgh where the majority of the people want to ride it out while the Paul people are screaming from the roof tops to get off the burgh and into the boat but Americans think the boat is too nutty of an idea. We have been playing this game of arguing over Democrat versus Republican with each having their left or right platform and we then tend to vote based on that and forget all about the Constitution as do our leaders.
June 4th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
My integrity is not for sale, nothing could make me cast my vote for John McCain. Nothing!
And I think that anyone who does vote for that idiot should be immediately drafted so they can fight the war he plans to wage with Iran.
I’m writing in Ron Paul.
June 4th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Jeez, what a moron. We’ll see if he feels the same way when Obama buries McCain. This election is not about ideals, vision or leadership. It’s about charisma. It’s all showbiz … and McCain will be beaten.
June 4th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Chuck Baldwin if no Ron Paul.
June 4th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
The statement was made today, June 4, 2008. Michael Goldfarb posted the quoted material on March 19, 2008, over two months ago. At that time Goldfarb was presumably not yet working for McCain, since his leave of absence from the Weekly Standard began on June 2. So there are two lies.
I would agree that I probably should have used the past tense “wrote” instead of “writes”. Even still, a grammar glitch is hardly a lie, much less 2 lies.
June 4th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Well they better not go to Obama’s tent because there is not one thing that Ron Paul and Obama have in common, NOT ONE!
As for McCain support? NOT TO WORRY.
We won’t be voting for him anyway, all the other liberals will.
June 4th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
I doubt Paul supporters would go over to Obama’s tent—we don’t believe in Marxism and Obama is for everything that we are against.
And McCain doesn’t have to worry about not wanting Paul supporters either—we would never vote for some corrupted Democrat that is calling himself a Republican. If he is going to win, let his Democrat counterparts vote for him, since he’s got more in common with Marxists than with true Republicans like us.
Goldfarb has left the Weekly Standard, the paper that claims to “shape the news not report it”. No great loss. Another liberal bites the dust that’s all.
June 4th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
The Barfers are desperate.
June 5th, 2008 at 12:17 am
LOL All I can say is BOB BARR 2008
!!
June 5th, 2008 at 1:01 am
What is this BS about lies? The McCain camp has just appointed someone as its deputy communications director, responsible for its online operations, who has been smearing McCain’s opponents* as anti-semitic on his blog.
*Paul’s the only one Goldfarb calls a Semite, but notice how he works Obama into the smear, too.
June 5th, 2008 at 1:17 am
McCain must be utterly annihilated by Obama and Barr. I’m talking complete Mondale-style loss. Send that gibbering, murderous imbecile into the retirement home he belongs in. Anybody but McCain, even though I could never bring myself to vote for Obama.
June 5th, 2008 at 1:23 am
Relax guys we dont need Paul when we have diebold,

The next decision point is up to Dr. Paul. If he chooses to register as a write-in candidate in those states that require registration, then I will write in Ron Paul.
If not, then the decision will be between Bob Barr and Chuck Baldwin.
It’s not just McCain’s policies that make him unfit to be president. He also has anger management issues.
June 5th, 2008 at 6:20 am
One wonders whether Michael Goldfarb would make such a statement today, and what the reaction would be. He probably thought Ron Paul’s support was an “insignificant” 1-5% at that time, but forgetting Paul did get 25% in Montana on Super Tuesday, 21% in WA etc. In the later primaries, Paul has CONSISTENTLY performed much better in the primaries, 16% in PA, 24% in Indiana etc. Also in New Jersey where Paul polled at only 5% on Super Tuesday, Murray Sabrin increased his support to 14%.
In a close election, every voter counts and only even 1% could make a difference. With Paul getting 16% in a swing state like PA, for example, McCain would not have a chance without Paul’s support. Ron Paul actually holds the key in the election, not that the media acknowledges it (yet)...
June 5th, 2008 at 6:44 am
Here’s a Ron Paul petition letter to the GOP.
http://www.lettertogop.com/
June 5th, 2008 at 7:47 am
i guess send this to them, since they don’t need republicans;)
http://www.lettertogop.com/
feel free to send this to mccains camp, since they don’t need republicans, independents or anyone. I assume they will bring in iraqi nationals and illegals and force them to vote republican.
http://www.lettertogop.com/
June 5th, 2008 at 7:56 am
well, i voted for paul in the primaries and planned to vote for mccain to keep the marxist obama out of offfice. but, if they don’t want my vote, i’m happy to stay home and rip up the check that was on the way to the RNC.
June 5th, 2008 at 8:13 am
At least for right now McCain doesn’t view Barr as any kind of threat. Otherwise his campaign would treat Paul supporters with a little more respect and tell state parties to allow for Ron Paul supporters to be elected delegates in various state conventions in order to at least diffuse any potential rancor that could drive Paul supporters over to Barr. When he has to campaign in Georgia and North Carolina this fall, then he’ll realize the folly of his ways.
June 5th, 2008 at 8:43 am
What The McCain people are saying is – “no conservative/Libertarian need apply”. The Republican ship is sinking. The Grand Old Party should be renamed the Globalist Oppressive Party. I really don’t think the prideful McCain is electable and since most of the population of the US is unable to think independently (if they could, Limbaugh, Hannity, O Reilly would be out of work), I’m thinking we will probably hail the new Babylonian boy King – B. Hussein Obama as our new President.
Write in Ron Paul and let the chips fall where they fall.
June 5th, 2008 at 8:51 am
Man, it sure didn’t take Goldfarb long to play the anti-Semitism card. That kind of nonsense should instantly discredit him. Ron Paul is a raging anti-Semite because he disagrees with our foreign policy in the Middle East? Yeah, whatever Goldfarb. Does anyone buy this kind of slander any longer?
June 5th, 2008 at 9:24 am
Great, that’s the way to win friends and influence people…by insulting them.
I’m so tired of being labeled a “nut”, “whackjob” or worse “Paultard” because a few of RP’s supporters fit the bill.
So, from now on, since McCain is a crook (Keating), I’m lumping all his supporters into a category: “Crookedsunuvabitchians”.
See-Sobs.
June 5th, 2008 at 9:29 am
If McCain doesn’t want our support, I’m cool with that. He wasn’t getting it anyway.
June 5th, 2008 at 9:30 am
Wow this guy isn’t very educated

Without Paul supporters McCain will lose by a landslide to any Dem candidate.
Michael Goldfarb should be pointed at and laughed out of politics for the dumbest thing I’ve heard come out of a nazi’s parties mouth.
It would be compairable to saying, Hitler won the war
When are these Republican nazi’s going to realize they are the minority in this party and that McCain will be lucky to get a million votes against Obama.
If you don’t need Pauls votes then your saying you don’t need close to half of your party to vote for McCain in order for him to win… Lol…
write in Paul and show the Neocon Repblicans/nazi’s that they are uneducated, inbreading bunch loosers
June 5th, 2008 at 10:13 am
Look at the rules, in most states write-in votes are uncounted and disreguarded. Do some more research as to who you can stomach to support. A write in vote will not count in a majority of states due to election laws. Look for yourself.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:13 am
Why is no one mentioning Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party? He is right in line with what Ron Paul stands for and has been a huge supporter of Ron Paul. I’m sick of hearing everyone say they are voting for Barr. Barr has a shady past (voting record, Ex-CIA), unlike Baldwin, so why not get behind Baldwin instead? I’m still for Ron Paul of course, but Baldwin would be my second choice, not Barr, and definately not Osama or McSame.
VOTE FOR RON PAUL….WIN A FREE COUNTRY!
“It is the duty of the patriot to protect their country from its government.”’ Thomas Paine
June 5th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Yes, don’t forget about Rev. Chuck, Constitution Party Presidential Nominee!
June 5th, 2008 at 10:50 am
Google: Charles C. Cook for great big doses of reality.
Richard C. Cook is a former U.S. federal government analyst, whose career included service with the U.S. Civil Service Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, the Carter White House, NASA, and the U.S. Treasury Department.

With Barr in the race, McCain can’t win… So make your choice republicans, Barr Or Obama?”
The only way a Paul Supporter would back McCain was if it involved waterboarding..
“It’s not torture if you don’t mean it!”
June 5th, 2008 at 11:47 am
I will be most happy to comply with McCain’s wishes. I’ll be heading for the Libertarian tent and voting for Bob Barr.
June 5th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
I just posted a message on the JohnMcCain.com website and informed them of the http://www.lettertogop.com/ AFTER I signed it.
There is no way McCain can win. He’s an idiot and the American voters will have a tough time bellying up to the booth to put him in office after listening to him for another 5 months.
Obama comes off much better, but in reality is just a puppet for the CFR and the power elite. No different than McSame, just a little more polished. I don’t trust either of them as far as I could throw them. Their words ring hollow because there is no doubt what their actual agendas are.
If a candidate does not publicly out the power elite and promise to initiate the steps to change policies and practices that diminish our rights and betray the Constitution, he should not hold office and shame on the American public if they allow it.
Vincent Bugliosi just finished a book that outs Bush and calls for his prosecution for murder. Pretty lofty agenda, but…
June 5th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Then I presume that this McCain staffer will not mind it if Dr. Paul’s supporters do their best to make sure that McMoron is not elected.
June 5th, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Don’t every think a patriotic Ron Paul supporter would ever vote for Juan McCain. McCain would not make a pimple on a patriots ass.
June 6th, 2008 at 12:34 am
I’m a Republican. I’m a soldier. I’m a conservative.
Good thing McCain doesn’t want my vote or my money, because he wasn’t going to get either anyway!
I was going to vote for Barr, but if McCain keeps acting like this, I may vote for Obama out of SPITE!
June 9th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Right. It’s o.k. for McCain to straight out say “I hate the gooks,” and refuse to apologize for it when later asked.
It’s o.k. for Obama to imply skin color equates to “Change,” when he’s preached it’s equality all these years? What other “change” could he be talking about? Obama voted for Bush’s “Patriot” Act and receives more donations from war profiteers than the rest of them.
How much did Ron Paul receive?
War kills innocent people… usually poor, non-white people. Obama and McCain are responsible for more DEAD people of color than Ron Paul ever was.
Ron Paul was a surgeon and obstetrician. He saves lives of – of ALL races. Obama and McCain kill people of all races. How can you argue with that? Oh, right. You can’t. That explains the slanderous Ron Paul piece you wrote.
Nice double-standard there, Jeff.
June 9th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
Just for the record, Bob Barr has also expressly rejected support from the JBS faction of the Ron Paul movement – the same extremists the McCain campaign is leery of. So while they may be deciding who to endorse, neither of the potential targets of that endorsement is too excited about it.
