Professor John Migliette gets out of class and on the ballot as Tennessee Green Party candidate
The Green Party of Tennessee nominated John P. Miglietta as their candidate for Tennessee’s Fifth District U.S. House seat on May 3, 2008 in Music City, USA. John Miglietta’s keen grasp of the vital issues confronting us, combined with his warm personality and dedication to peaceful resolution of conflict, make him ideally suited to serve in the United States Congress. He is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Tennessee State University. As a scholar, Dr. Miglietta is trained to think critically, examining problems, solutions, and purported facts from all angles – as George Bush’s Iraqi WMD statements should have been, but were not. As an educator, Dr. Miglietta can present complex ideas persuasively, in a down to earth fashion.

The Green Party appears to be married to the idea of Global Warming. However, I believe the evidence points to just the opposite – Global Cooling.
The key to understanding what is happening with our climate is the melting of the polar ice cap, which now allows travel for the first time in recorded history, between Europe and Asia. Truly, this is the biggest global event of the past 10,000 years.
That’s because a warm ocean in the Baffin Bay area is likely to generate violent arctic hurricanes that could theoretically disrupt the entire planetary weather system. The distribution of glaciers during Ice Ages strongly suggest a pattern of extreme orthographic precipitation, brought on by some mysterious change.
In my view, that change has consistently been due to the appearance of warm water in the polar regions, accelerated by the change in albedo from snow to water, and culminating in super-sized arctic hurricanes that severely disrupt the normal jet stream patterns, allowing for a massive temperature correction otherwise known as an Ice Age.
If that is the case, we can use all the greenhouse gasses we can generate, in order to moderate the global cooling that I believe will occur within the next 20 years.

Steve, I think more people on BOTH sides should start listening to the scientist.
NO credible scientist I’m aware of calls it “Global Warming.” It’s “Global Climate Change.” The biggest driving force behind the climate change is the additional greenhouse gases, and the biggest reason for those is us.
The climate is a chaotic thing. They’ve discovered that additional greenhouse gases would likely change the gulf stream and make Europe colder than it is now. It doesn’t mean that everywhere on the planet will get warmer, nor does it mean we can mitigate the cooling with more greenhouse gases.
Of course, OTOH, it doesn’t mean we’re all gonna die unless we pass the environmentalists’ agenda, either…

Shane,
Even if Global Warming were a proven fact, I would oppose paying one penny to the government to fix it. Unfortunately, we can expect governments across the planet to engage in a tsunami of environmental tax scams, led by misguided and misinformed Greens, that will further burden all of us and accomplish nothing.

Oil dependancy is a bigger problem now if the climate is in fact changing we have time to correct it, but we must drill now for oil
June 8th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Steve: agreed. Government will NOT solve the problem.
June 8th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
who will?
June 8th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Free marketers. Look at the guys making the carbon fiber cars that should be out in a few years and will get 100+mpg.
Get the government out of the way so we can start building more nuclear plants, which is the cleanest, most efficient environmentally-friendly kind of power there is. Let’s also get rid of this “nuclear power = bombs” bogosity and let them re-enrich their waste so we won’t have to worry as much about disposal. Also, end oil and energy subsidies. Oh, and make the government STOP BEING THE #1 POLLUTER.
Government is a big CAUSE of the problem
June 8th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Nuclear power is not the answer—toxic waste, radiation, costs…what do you do with contaminated constructin materials once the plant must be dismantled? What about water—energy barons will pollute, they will, always, so why use any power source that does potential harm? Diversity is needed. If we can spend trillions to finance war, we can find the resources to research and develop renewable energy sources. STOP CONSUMING cHINESE GOODS OR ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA! Stop relying on wasteful dryers and monolith refrigerators—greedy Americans! Stop driving tanks to work! Stop supporting the republicons and democratic-enablers! I cant believe you people are still argueing over climate change! Only Americans would do so. Save the planet! End fascist America! and all its ignorant fools! I call on an International effort to sanction America and enforce a NO-Fly-Zone over its terrritories! The rogue nation of the USA must comply with International peace efforts—otherwise it must be brought to its knees! When Americans learn they they are part of an organic whole they will make the necessary changes in their society to join the human race. Until then you must be sanctioned.

Um, did you read what I wrote? The material is actually very easy to deal with; you just have to get rid of the idea that nuclear = bomb.
And nuclear DOES NOT POLLUTE. The only thing it puts into the air is steam. It has the lowest potential for harm of almost any power source, including wind (solar is an exception).
Europe understands this. Even the French are building new nuclear power stations!
Look to the science. The science will set you free. The science will stop you from being manipulated by those with a political agenda.
