Green candidate announces for New Mexico position
An Associated Press story reports that Rick Lass of Santa Fe plans to run as the Green Party candidate for a northern New Mexico seat on the Public Regulation Commission, challenging the Democrat who is the only candidate on the ballot.
The PRC district covers north-central and northeastern New Mexico. The five-person commission oversees electric, gas and water utilities, telecommunications, insurance, pipeline and fire safety.
Lass was nominated by the Green Party at its state convention on Saturday. He is now collecting signatures on petitions to qualify for the general election ballot.
