It broke down for me when I realized that every great “libertarian” anarchist novel suffered the same fatal defect: each requires a suspension of reality in order to work. In other words, it only works in those stories because it’s science fiction. Atlas Shrugged’s free energy device and the ability to project a holographic mountain peak of Galtville (wouldn’t fool any sattelite up there); Voyage to yesteryear’s dna-cloning automated space colony transport; and so on.

But you don’t get to suspend reality out there on Main Street.

Anarchy doesn’t work for the same reason democracy doesn’t: both eventuate to the relentless pursuit of mediocrity; democracy searching for the lowest common denominator in performance, anarchy finding the lowest common denominator in social behavior.

First off I want to thank those who viewed my site (and the complements on its design). I am trying to get the word out to as many people as possible that the Revolution can continue! TPW is one of my favorite sites and I am honored that TPW has been covering my site.

To clarify what has been said above: I do not take donations, only pledges. I turn people to the actual Barr site for the donations. I agree that everyone should be wary for scams in this day and age. As for trying to keep the owner anonymous, my private info is just that: private. I try to respect everyone’s privacy (even yours Susan) and only ask in return that I am given the same courtesy.

I am collecting the pledges so when I gather a few more days of stats I can put up stats/graph of the pledges I have received. I hope to continue to spread the word about Bob Barr and BarrBomb.com, and would much appreciate any help you all can offer.

Interestingly, “Moon is a Harsh Mistress” ends with anarchy giving way to democracy. Heinlein appreciated the instability of anarchy even as he toyed with the idea. Heinlein was much more data driven than Rand or Rothbard.
