Stefan, I don't plan to join a party. I've given up on that.

I don't have the foggiest idea what I'm going to do in November. If my choices in Ohio are Barr, Baldwin, McCain, and Obama, I'm leaning towards casting a blank ballot. I'll vote for my local LP candidates, but the national party has completely lost me at this point. They can get me back, but I'm a free agent at this point.

"Earth to Dondero, come in, Dondero:"

They don't make transmitters THAT powerful, and if they did, the FCC would outlaw them.

"McClintock is almost a shoo-in. Old news. He’s not “America’s Number One libertarian elected official” either. But he is not far off, and definitely up there in the fiscal sense. That honor can be tossed up amongst many people, including Douglas Bruce, Sherriff Bill Masters, Judge Jim Gray, and probably some people back east I don’t know personally who fit the bill just fine."

Or some kindly Texas Congressman and country doctor from Lake Jackson, perhaps?

TN Mike: nope Baldwin is not a Huckabee clone, he does not favor constitutional amendments nor does he advocate a smoking ban like Huckabee etc. He does not have the same balanced emphasis than Ron Paul though, he would appeal to some more "rightwing" for which immigration is a big issue. He is more limited in the issues he is addressing than Paul, but one can also understand he has much less access to media, and then you take three main points (illegal-immigration, pro-life etc.) and focus on that and the issues that are his strength.

Chuck Baldwin is a Huckabee clone, not too much on civil liberties.

I don't think Paul's people will go that far right.

I predict about three quarters of the so-called "RON PAULERS" will join the BALDWIN 2008 CAMPAIGN and the Constitution party. Good!
Bob Barr has too many skeletons in his closet.....former CIA....etc.
Plus, Ron Paul will NOT endorse him. -Larry Breazeale, Msgt.(ret.) USAF,

The Republican party left me as well. I am one former Republican who would not be voting for McCain in any event.

If one has Libertarian beliefs, that is, feeling the Federal government should stay out of both the boardroom and the bedroom, what other alternative is there besides Barr?

The Greens are an ultra-liberal party who wants redistribution of wealth i.e Robin Hood, and government intervention into commerce i.e. the environment, and the Constitution Party wants to legislate morality.

There is a Republicans for Barr organization they can join.

There are good arguments for supporting both the GOP and LP in this election cycle. After all, America's Number One libertarian elected official, Tom McClintock of California, is on the ballot as a Republican for US Congress near Sacramento.

We MUST help to elect McClintock to Congress. Next to Barr's election, there is no other greater priority for ALL libertarians this year.

(BTW, there are other libertarians running under the GOP banner this year, as well, like in New Hampshire where they are running for State House as Fusion candidates.)
