I came across a lot of Wonkettes on the Paul campaign and I learned rather quickly which ones were a waster of time. I just listed the worst offenders my first post on this thread.

That’s why I appreciate a good joke, humorous story, parody, or satire. I can do it sometimes, see my ode to Dr. Seuss’ NOTA somewhere around here, but it isn’t always that good, either.

In my post, I was going to mention The Onion as the gold standard for satire these days, so I obviously agree with you 100%. I never even heard of Wonkette until I read this article, and now I wish I had those 2 or 3 minutes of my life back. So much bad satire out there. What an easy art form to attempt, but incredibly hard to do well. IMHO.

Wonkette is never funny. They just think they are.

The Onion, now THAT’s funny! And a touch of things people relate to, which is why it’s funny.

That touch of things people can relate to is what makes all great humor work. The lack of it is what make s bad humor bad.

Wonkette’s chief audience these days is crickets…

They do not want a serious opponent.

Right now, with the Republicans stuck on stupid for the past twenty years (moral majority crap + the villanization of males who are supposed to all be Scott Peterson), the Democrats have been able to keep white male voters with both hands tied behind their backs.

This despite the fact that there should be NO reason for a male voter to want to vote Democrat.

The woman who started it doesn’t even work there anymore.

Sorry, they’re in there with DailyKos, Lone Star Press, and Red State in terms of serious journalism. In the trash heap, that is.
