NADER TO HOLD CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA NEWS CONFERENCE AND CAMPAIGN RALLY, SUNDAY, JULY 13

Ralph Nader will bring his Independent “Shift the Power” presidential campaign to Virginia, Sunday July 13. There will be a 1:30 p.m. news conference and a 2 p.m. Nader/Gonzalez campaign rally, both to be held at the Gravity Lounge, 103 South First Street, Charlottesville, Va. 22902. Suggested contribution: $10/$5 student.

Virginians are concerned about the lack of a comprehensive statewide transportation strategy, the polluting of their rivers and the Chesapeake Bay, the loss of jobs to NAFTA, off-shoring jobs by multinational corporations, and the dire affect on military families of unpopular wars funded by the Democratic Congress and Republican President.

This November Virginians will have a choice: the status quo parties of Obama and McCain or the Nader/Gonzalez ticket that promises to “Shift the Power” from big business corporations to “We The People!”

Obama and McCain offer business as usual: the continuation of the war in Iraq, the threat of war in Iran, and support of the extreme militarists in Israel. Nader/Gonzalez propose a rapid withdrawal of troops from Iraq and a two-state peace solution based on the accords of the Israeli and Palestinian peace movements.

The Nader/Gonzalez Campaign offers something new and different—actual solutions to real problems like a living wage; repeal of the anti-union Taft-Hartley Act; and, a single-payer, Canadian-style, private delivery, free-choice public health insurance system for all.

The Nader/Gonzalez Campaign proposes putting people back to work, funding a massive public works jobs program by cutting the wasteful, bloated military budget and adopting a Wall Street securities speculation tax. This money would be redirected into a “Marshall Plan” rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, constructing new mass-transit systems, schools, clinics and other needed public works. It would include a crash program to develop a no-nuke, solar-based energy policy supported by renewable, sustainable, energy-efficient sources, creating millions of new jobs in the process.

While Obama/McCain cater to the powerful corporate interests that fund their campaigns, Nader/Gonzalez propose a crack down on corporate welfare and corporate crime that has resulted in millions losing pensions, savings and jobs and a huge squandering of your tax dollars.

The Nader/Gonzalez Campaign addresses these and other issues Obama and McCain have taken “off the table.” For a full list of “on the table” topics see: VoteNader.org.

  1. Evert Wilson Says:

Ralph Nader’s team has collected under 1,000 signatures in Virginia.

They need 20,000 plus to get 10,000.

As usual the Nader crowd is running an arrogant, stupid ballot access operation.

In conservative Virginia, Ralph Nader is about as popular as a fart in an elevator.

Nader will miss the ballot in Virginia in 2004, as he did in 2008 – unless he brings in a very high priced national ballot access company.

Nader and his team are a disappointing group of arrogant pricks.

i suggest you subscribe to ballot-access news and you could make informed comments.

“As usual the Nader crowd is running an arrogant, stupid ballot access operation.”

In 04, Nader started with zero ballot states and was on 34; the GP started with around 19 and was on 27.

By the way, the Virginia petition deadline is aug. 22.

  3. Mike Says:

Evert, you seem to be a huge Nader hater. Will you be voting Obama this year? Nader will be on in at least 40 states this year.
