Too many environmentalists don't want any drilling because they fear demand will go back up once gas prices come down, but historically, demand never fully recovers after an oil shock is over, so it won't "increase our addiction" or anything. Besides we'll still need oil probably forever, at least for plastics and other petrochemical products. Spot on.
