‘Do NOT write in Ron Paul’
Nolan Chart columnist Lojito writes: “You and I both love Ron Paul very much…. However, when you vote this election season, though I prefer to phrase things in the affirmative, I must implore to NOT WRITE-IN RON PAUL!”
First, says Lojito, your vote will not be counted—and he explains why. Second, Ron Paul does not want to be President and does not want you to write in his name. And third, “if you love Liberty, vote Barr or Baldwin.” Neither candidate may be your ideal, but bear this in mind:
Barr and Baldwin are gathering votes for their respective parties. The number of votes they get in this election could determine whether their parties have to jump through all the ballot access hoops or not in the election after this one. If you write-in Ron Paul, you will not be helping anyone at all. At least a vote for Barr or Baldwin is a vote for ballot access.

I’m glad to see this, although I would have liked to have access to the original article. I have been giving this option some consideration, but I will instead choose to vote for either Barr or Baldwin. This site is a great service to those of us who prefer to stand apart from the fray.

Some places may count the write-in votes for Ron Paul but in most places they won’t because he is not a register write-in. If you are not beholden to either the Libertarian or Constitution Party and only one is on the ballot vote for the one on the ballot if they are both on the ballot flip a coin heads Constitution Party (because that side says in God we trust) tails Libertarian Party.

tails Libertarian Party.
Because they get more tail?

Yes, very annoying.

Constitutional violations are why we are not getting the Blessings that we deserve from Almighty as we used to. The candidate most likely to fix that is Chuch Baldwin and the constitution party. Fron Federal reserve fraud to IRS stealing from our citizens illegally taxing private income we all suffer. We need to change that. whether he can win or just make a statement. He is young enough to comeback and win next time even if enough voters are scared to speak their mind this time so in either event, vote Chuck Baldwin both ways.

“Constitutional violations are why we are not getting the Blessings that we deserve from Almighty as we used to.”??
I am sorry I missed the verse in the Bible that says “thou shalt not violate the constitution.” The corruption of national rulers does not determine the faithfulness of any nation. You have mixed your religion and your political views and have rendered them both nonsensical. We are becoming a more secular nation because people feel that they practice religion in voting booths. What a pile of dung.

If you’re not religious, feel free to disregard this post. I’m not tryin’ to be a preacher here. Seriously…I’m a Christian, and I’m appalled that so many fellow Christians seem to think that God curses us and punishes us for everything. Whether it’s Pat Robertson blaming gay people for 9/11, hurricanes, earthquakes, or whatever, it’s really ridiculous. Why would a deity who is loving, merciful, and just, and who sent His son to die for the sins of mankind proceed to punish us?
I believe that Christ fulfilled the prophesies of the Old Testament, but it seems to me that a lot of Christians today are trying to live life in a pre-Christ mindset instead of accepting His salvation.
But then, I’m also one of those crazy Libertarians who thinks we oughta let people live their own lives and make their own decisions and worship or not worship as they see fit, so what do I know?

A Ron Paul write-in is NOT a wasted vote

In Iowa, a write in vote for Ron Paul counts. I realize this may seem like a naive theory, but according to the regulations on elections and ballots and such, a person does not have to sign up to be a write in candidate. After all that I have learned in this campaign and the few very fortunate opportunities I have had to speak to Dr. Paul..I cannot believe that he would tell me not to vote my conscience. I know there are some other issues at stake and it’s not that I am against those, but I getting to vote for something and that is important to me.
October 21st, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Of course everyone should vote the way they believe is best. While write-in votes are possible in Pennsylvania, chances are it will not be counted or reported in vote totals, so no one except the county election official will ever know that the vote was cast. It is as close to a wasted vote as you can get.

I will write in my vote for Ron Paul. Because he is the best candidate for President. The Democratic and Republican parties are both controlled by the Elitist of the World. The only way any third party candidate could be elected President is for the third parties to hold a separate convention and select one Presidential candidate. Then all vote for that one selected for President. But the third parties are so diverse in their platforms that they cannot unite to break the two party monopoly. Until the third parties unite to win an election they will keep on being ineffectual. The Elitist will keep putting on their two party campaign charades deceiving the participants into thinking they are making a difference. Our President will be the lessor of two evils. Wake up America

I’m a Ron Paul Supporter and I already voted Nader/Gonzalez with my absentee ballot, because I can’t vote Barr/Root after how horribly they’ve campaigned and blundered what could have been a breakthrough moment for the LP. I can’t vote Baldwin/Castle for the CP platform alone. So I voted for a principled candidate that shared 4 principals of Ron Paul’s. Plus, I really want to see Corporate Welfare abolished. But whether you vote Barr or Baldwin or Nader, just vote for who you agree with the most. That’s all you can ask for.

Voting is an endorsement of a candidate and his policies, plain and simple. Therefore, if you vote for either McCain or Obama [or Barf] in this election, you endorse:
* Fascism, e.g. through nationalization of the banking industry.
* Theft via inflation.
* The destruction of the dollar.
* The mass murder of innocents in the Middle East.
* Committing soldiers to die over border disputes in the Caucasus (can you even find that on a map?).
* Providing money and weapons to third-world dictators.
* An American Empire with bases in 130 countries.
* The state and the countless number of horrific acts it commits in our name every day.
These [three] candidates will only continue down the current path of ruin. A vote for [any] one is an endorsement of self-destruction.

This article explains the benefit of writing in votes.
http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/hamilton5.html
It makes a lot of sense. More than the one above.
If you had to choose between Hitler and Stalin would you still consider it a wasted vote to write in Ron Paul?
Read the article I linked to. It makes the point better than I can.
October 22nd, 2008 at 8:41 am
William, I agree with your post above! Props.
October 22nd, 2008 at 8:50 am
No vote is a wasted vote. I wouldn’t encourage anyone to vote for Bob Barr. The anti-libertarians who nominated him in Denver now have to live with their pathetic choice.
A vote for principle is the way to go. Writing in Ron Paul is a positive action. Supporting Chuck Baldwin, as Ron Paul and my oldest daughter do is a good option. Voting for Ralph Nader like I did is a good option. Voting for a pompous, self-centered, party-killing, book-pimping, abortion causing, gay bashing, patriot act supporting buffoon like Bob Barr is NOT a good option.

Arizona,
you’re a dumb fool. use your brain, fag.
I’m with the Constitution Party! Go Chuck Baldwin! we need to get rid of fags in this country
October 22nd, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Joseph,
Chuck Baldwin and the Constitution Party have never advocated getting rid of the “fags” in this country. They simply take a position against homosexuality. If you actually read their platform beyond the Preamble (which I agree is rather extreme for a political party), you’ll see that a lot of the legal positions the party holds is compatible with Libertarianism.
http://www.constitutionparty.com/party_platform.php#Family
“No government may legitimately authorize or define marriage or family relations, as affirmed by the 10th amendment, delegating to the people as our founders understood the family as necessary to the general welfare. We affirm the importance of Biblical scripture in the founders’ intent as eloquently stated by Noah Webster: “The moral principles and precepts contained in the Scriptures ought to form the basis of all our civil constitution and laws… All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery, and war proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts in the Bible.”
The law of our Creator defines marriage as the union between one man and one woman. The marriage covenant is the foundation of the family, and the family is fundamental in the maintenance of a stable, healthy and prosperous social order. No government may legitimately authorize or define marriage or family relations contrary to what God has instituted. We are opposed to amending the U.S. Constitution for the purpose of defining marriage.”
Now, I will admit – that does sound rather theocratic if you just skim it. But, if you take the time to analyze it, they want to get the government out of marriage. That is a Libertarian position, is it not?

There are now reports coming out of here that Ron Paul is now a write-in candidate in CA.
The bad part is for people like myself who have already voted who would change their vote if they could, but it’s too late.
Because of that, plus the fact this came in a week after absentee and early voting began, for once my vote was truly wasted. That sucks.
October 22nd, 2008 at 8:50 pm
There is a great deal of merit to the argument that voting either LP or Constitution Party will make their job far easier the next time around.
Do you really want all your campaign contributions spent on merely trying to gain ballot access—when they could be educating the public on the principles of liberty…?
We all love Ron Paul, but writing-in his name does not actually accomplish anything—and will make future candidates have to start at square one all over again.
The question is, do you want to accomplish something—or do you just want to feel warm and fuzzy…?
October 22nd, 2008 at 11:44 pm
I can assure you that Ron Paul IS NOT a write in candidate in California.
I was involved in the process of getting Chuck Baldwin on the California certified write in list. The Secretary of State requires a declaration of candidacy SIGNED by the candidate, in addition to 55 notarized and jurated electoral college nominees. So unless Ron Paul signed a declaration, then he is not a write in candidate.
The deadline for paperwork was October 21st.

personally I don’t think any party can be built on the backs of morons.
It’s true, by the time you are gunning for a majority win, you will be grabbing every vote you can.
But in the early stages, party building stages, you are looking for reasonable people, who donate time, money, and are influence leaders in their communities.
The Ron Paul sheep are none of these…I say let them vote for Ron Paul. Ron Paul won’t even be around by the time the smaller parties are ready for ascendency.
Sorry Paulites, I know thats harsh, but its OK. The fact is who cares if you are offended. You are dedicated to the idea of doing nothing, so you’ll never be a factor.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:31 am
Ron Paul has made his wishes clear – don’t vote for him as a write-in candidate, vote for Baldwin. Personally, I am not impressed with any of the candidates and would probably abstain. A vote this year is a vote for statism or theism.
October 24th, 2008 at 6:32 am
Actually, it looks like Ron Paul IS a write in candidate in CA, which is great, because I waited to vote and now can vote for him!
The official Secretary of State list will be out today, so you can check for yourself. Since you really vote for electors, it looks like the state can no longer require the actual presidential candidate to file, just the electors. Who have all filed notarized declarations.
October 24th, 2008 at 7:40 am
This article is asking people to do exactly what the Ron Paul campaign has fought against from the beginning: more of the same. It doesn’t matter if you vote for McCain because you don’t like Obama or if you vote for Baldwin in this election so he’ll have an easier time in the next election you’re still not voting your conscience and that is exactly the problem in this country: lack of integrity, character and conscience. I say you should vote your heart and who you believe in. If the state chooses to throw your vote away, then that is just another symptom of the broken dream that was once the great experiment known as the republic, the democracy, the United States.
Barr shows me absolutely nothing different than the other candidates and certainly doesn’t hold the same platform as Ron Paul and Baldwin is a minister. Church and state don’t mix. I couldn’t in good conscience vote for either.
I am helping someone: ME, to vote for who I truly believe in. I’m not helping the political process that you seem to feel is correct and we should play the game smart. I choose not to play the game at all.
Shame on you for even mentioning this.
