Second Amendment news: Bob Barr, Stephen Halbrook

Bob Barr, the 2008 Libertarian Party candidate for President, has prevailed over New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a lawsuit involving a Georgia sports store that sells guns. Here is the Associated Press story on the case.

Also on the Second Amendment front, Stephen Halbrook’s The Founders’ Second Amendment, which Barr praises, skyrocketed on Amazon.com until the online bookseller ran out of stock. The Halbrook book was No. 1 in Law, Civil Rights and Liberties, Constitutions, Constitutional Law, and Revolutionary and Founding History; No. 12 in History; No. 11 in Professional and Technical; and No. 26 in Nonfiction (all).

Now that Amazon.com is restocked, the Independent Institute is trying to get a buying surge going again that will put The Founders’ Second Amendment on the New York Times and Amazon.com bestseller lists—to give President-elect Obama a clear message as he prepares to take office. I CAN Independent Candidate Action Network News Update

    New Features on Indyaction.org Website

We have added some exciting new features on the Indyaction.org website. The
newest item, added today, is the Friends Connection feature. This application
appears on our home page. It allows you to log in and use your social
networking profile in Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, etc to invite your friends to
    our

network, upload pictures, and more. It’s very cool. Best of all, this
a free application that I recommend for all your campaign websites! Let viral
marketing work for you. Check it out at http://indyaction.org

Some of you still haven’t seen our new discussion forum. This is
completely different from most forums. We only discuss the business of running
a campaign. And there are a handful of experts who can share their advice with
you. There is also discussion of the 18 Steps to Win a Local Election.

    Moving to Texas

Robert Butler, the Founder of the I CAN network, has been hired by the
Libertarian Party of Texas and will serve as their Executive Director. Robert
is still working on the I CAN Network, and will still travel to promote his
book, but his tour schedule is being scaled back.

The Release Date for 18 Steps to Win a Local Election has been delayed due to
    Robert’s move to

Texas. The new date for release is early 2009.

As a Jewess in the US, may I remind everyone that criminals are stopped by FIREARMS, not by talk? And that America wasn’t won with a registered gun? That is why all REAL Americans put our 2nd Amendment FIRST!

  3. disinter Says:

Good lord, this is STILL Bob Barf Watch?

    Newsflash: he lost!

  4. DonaldRaymondLake Says:

Just amazing isn’t it? And so much of the erosion was self inflicted!

  5. Catholic Trotskyist Says:

Disinter, Don, Clark, etc, go to Ipr, where the real action is. They just opened comments to unregistered people. this site is even more dead than it was before, after a brief resurrection around the election time. God took his favor away from this site after the horrible coverage of the LP convention. And the Second Amendment is much less important than the First Amendment, get over it.

  6. DonaldRaymondLake Says:

I have personally taken Austin Cassidy to task since the beginning [of both fake TPW and fake IPR] for slantings [neocon, paleocon, Bible Thumpers, and Libs /Lib Lite]. I am blocked from scripting for months [mid October, just prior to the General Election]! Some folks think that free speech is the freedom to hear what they want to hear!

  7. Catholic Trotskyist Says:

Ipr is much more open now so try again, but ipr is down right now, probably due to Israel/Ralphnader conspiracy. Someone please fix it, it’s destroying my sanity.

  8. paulie Says:

Austin Cassidy is no longer editor of IPR, and as of yesterday we no longer require comment registration.

There is nothing fake about IPR and no one has ever been blocked because we do not want to hear what they have to say, although I understand there were lots of technical glitches with the comment registration.

Anyway, I finally persuaded the management (after three changes of editor) to get rid of the registration.

It is down right now, and I do not run the server so I can’t say why or for how long. Hopefully back up soon. I will let y’all know. :-P

  9. DonaldRaymondLake Says:

Oh Paulie, the next thing you will be telling us is that TPW is/ was not fake. As I suggested YEARS ago, Sacramento’s PhilipSawyer8@msn.com would be an excellent centrist, left of center [what ever those phrases mean] commendator for either web log.

YOUR non right wingers have been so fakey [so called, not really Green ‘Independent Green Parties’] or so lame…...

Ah techies boo boos! Ah, SELECTED technical difficulties. Oh, poop!

  10. Catholic Trotskyist Says:

It’s back up now. Nothing to worry about.

  11. DonaldRaymondLake Says:

My statement[s] still stand! I hooted and hooted after ‘Catholic Trotskyist’ and his ‘go to IPR’ message coupled with the 404 notice. Too perfect! IPR may be more open and objective than TPW, but what is THAT mean?

IPR may be up now, but there is plenty to worry about. Fairness, religious intrusion, balance, inclusion, and not giving an inch [2.53 centimeters] to the evil Democans and Republicrats!

  12. paulie Says:

    Lake,

“the next thing you will be telling us is that TPW is/ was not fake. ”

That’s not for me to speak on. I haven’t posted here since may.

“I suggested YEARS ago, Sacramento’s PhilipSawyer8@msn.com would be an excellent centrist”

Self described member of the Communist Party is a centrist? LOL

In any case, I’m not management, but he can write Trent Hill if he is interested. He’s welcome to blog at IPR as far as I am concerned, but it is not up to me.

“YOUR non right wingers have been so fakey [so called, not really Green ‘Independent Green Parties’] or so lame…...”

No idea what you are talking about, Don (I guess that makes two of us).
Independent Green was here at TPW. Our Green is Gregg Jocoy, who is a regular SC Green. I asked Ronald Hardy, Kimberly Wilder and others, we would certainly welcome more Green and Left bloggers.

contact.ipr at gmail.com if anyone is interested.

    “SELECTED technical difficulties”

    Bullshit. You are paranoid.

“IPR may be more open and objective than TPW, but what is THAT mean?”

Not good enough for ya, Don? Start your own, please. You should be able to do better, right?

    “Fairness, balance, inclusion”

Yep, IPR is all about that. Give us some competition and see if you can do better if you disagree.

    Happy new year!

And let’s not forget that better veterans’ home.

  14. To Maynard ["work!"] Says:

Gottach, you need to direct same to paulie and CT!

  15. You may apologize any time Paulie Says:

#Lake: “YOUR lack of real non right wingers have been so fakey [so called, not really Green ‘Independent Green Parties’] or so lame…...”

Lake: You [Paulie], Ron, Kim, and others are true ignoramuses or just pretending to be! The following is a mere sampling of dozens [hundreds?] fakey centrists / left of center posting on various ‘wide spectrum non Democans and Republicrats’ web logs earlier in 2008!

Quote: “Gail “for Rail” Parker [Independent Green Party of Virginia and lead promoter of Anti Abortionist [CP] Chuck Baldwin P2008] was a placeholder for Michael Bloomberg like I’m a placeholder for Warren Buffet…only a little less so.

    Quote: “Who is Carey Campbell?

Although I appreciate any news and promos for Kat, there is one detail that was…well…wrong… Kat ran for San Antonio City Council in 2007 and frankly, I wonder if Carey has ever visited Kat’s website. The words chosen for this post “rhetorical flare, and white hot passion” don’t really describe Kat. Kat is real…she is one of us…Kat puts her positions in common language…not legalese. Kat is “Seriously Green”.

I am sorry…but this look at Kat Swift appears to be written by a “shill” who is trying to prove how “inclusive” the TPW is and will continue to be…(made ya look) ;-)

If Carey is “legit”...[AND HE IS NOT, NOR IS GAIL PARKER, WHOM DON LAKE HAS EXCHANGED NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS ——UNTIL HE GOT TOO CLOSE TO THE TRUTH!] at least get your facts correct before posting….

Carrie may be writing these articles to constantly mention the debate that Gail Parker, the Independent Green politician, so she can be mentioned.”

    Lake: Hello, hello, Paulie?

    Hello, hello, Paulie Cannoli?

  17. DonaldRaymondLake Says:

Hello? Hello? Paulie Cannoli, or whom ever you are…........

  18. paulie Says:

    Don, take your meds.

Those are comments, which anyone is allowed to make at IPR. We have also done posts about Independent Greens, and all sorts of other parties.

    Happy new year.
