Angela McArdle Under Fire from Tuniewicz

Tim Murphy from Mother Jones did a long-form article on “The Spectacular Implosion of the Libertarian Party,” https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2024/04/the-spectacular-implosion-of-the-libertarian-party/ in which a 2017 Twitter post of mine was quoted.

In the aftermath of the rally, the LP’s executive director said there was “no room for racists and bigots in the Libertarian Party.” Nicholas Sarwark, the party’s chairman between 2014 and 2020, went further; the Mises Institute, he tweeted, was “the preferred choice of actual Nazis.” It was a breaking point. Many Paul supporters already considered the pragmatists too woke. Targeting Paul’s favorite think tank only proved their suspicions. That same day, a 28-year-old from the Philadelphia suburbs named Michael Heise started a Facebook group called the Libertarian Party Mises Caucus. By the next morning the group had 600 members. “We’re bringing libertarianism back,” it announced over a meme of Paul walking away from an explosion.

Region Six LNC Representative Mark Tuniewicz shared the Mother Jones article with the rest of the LNC on the public list, to make them aware of it, which caused the creep from California to post a 2008 article about Mark’s deceased father. Mark objected to the behavior and McArdle dissembled.

Tuniewicz wrote
Madam Chair,

I’d like  it noted that throughout this term, you and your fellow officers have permitted the worst types of unfounded personal attacks, slurs, and outright lies to go on within this Committee

Allowing such activity not only has shredded your credibility as chair (and the VC, Secy, & Treas by extension, when as leaders they don’t object) but has contributed to an atmosphere that allows this behavior to be accepted as the norm.

Cheap personal shots and remarks are no replacement for leadership, and by allowing them to continue over the last 2 years..well, it has been one of the significant contributors to our negative organizational outcomes this year.

Looking forward to a change at our convention.

With best wishes

Region 6 Representative

Libertarian National Committee, Inc.e

McArdle clearly has no control over the board anymore, probably due to her putting them all in a position of abject failure right before a convention where they will be seeking re-election. Expect her to get thrown under the bus soon.

This post is too long already, expect more updates faster in the future.

Yours truly,

Nick
