Petition Calls for McArdle Resignation

Request the Resignation of Angela McArdle as National Chair of the Libertarian Party

Petition Started by Nolan Schmidt

Why this petition matters

Angela McArdle, the current National Chair of the Libertarian Party, has recently been implicated in actions that contradict the party’s core principles and bylaws. She openly supported opposing candidates, including Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump. This act has created confusion and discord within the party, as the leadership’s actions do not reflect the party’s foundation and ideologies. Therefore, we are calling for relief from this confusion by asking Angela McArdle to resign as the National Chair of the Libertarian Party. This action will demonstrate respect for the Party’s values, commitment to maintaining trust among its members, and a prioritization of party cohesion over individual inclination.

In May 2024, the delegation of the Libertarian National Convention nominated the presidential ticket of Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat. Instead of supporting the ticket that was nominated, McArdle and four other members of the Libertarian Executive Committee went behind the back of the party to create a Joint Funding Agreement with the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. presidential campaign, and even made an “endorsement” video for Chase to support him only in Blue States to have Trump re-elected as President so “a Libertarian can be put in Trump’s cabinet.”

The Kennedy JFA has been opposed by numerous Libertarian state affiliates (including Texas, McArdle’s state of residency), and she has been censured by those same state affiliates.

Through her social media, she has openly supported Republican candidates, despite being the National Chair of the Libertarian Party.

Please join us in ensuring that our party leadership maintains its impartiality and respect for party guidelines. Sign this petition to promote integrity within the Libertarian Party.

Given that Kennedy still might wind up on the ballot in New Hampshire with a Libertarian designation, if Trump puts him in his cabinet, Trump will have satisfied his promises to both Kennedy and the LP.

However, there is no likelihood of Kennedy being on the ballot in New Hampshire as a Libertarian.

I think Harlos ruined some plan of McAdle in co without realizing it and NH was fallback.

I had not heard that the NH Libertarian petition for Kennedy failed.

I was not aware that there was an LPNH petitioning effort to run Kennedy as a Libertarian. There was a Libertarian petitioning effort, which I heard succeeded, but it was for Oliver for President and Vallee for Governor, and was not associated with the LPNH group. Kennedy’s campaign I believe put him on the ballot.

Yes, Kennedy’s team petitioned to put him on the ballot with the “We The People” label, and Oliver supporters petitioned to have him on with the “Libertarian” label. But, another group (I don’t know if it was LPNH, it might have been “Libertarians For Kennedy”) petitioned to have Kennedy on with a “Libertarian” label. If they succeeded, Kennedy will be on the ballot once, with two party labels.

Damian is likely correct that it was McArdle’s back-up plan after Colorado fell apart.

If you support her being removed, okay, but why do people act like online petitions do anything of value other than virtue signalling?

They identify people of similar mind for later organizational work.
