An open letter to my friends in the Libertarian Party of Utah:
I wish you well in your special convention today and remain grateful for your support during my term as your state chair which also saw three of my six campaigns for public office in Utah. State Senate in 2016, US House in 2017, and State House in 2018.
Today Cindy and I are in Phoenix attending the last day of the Objectivist Standard Institute’s LEVEL UP conference. One dedicated to advancing the philosophy of Freedom and Flourishing for all. Yesterday we attended a lecture by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bari_Weiss which was fantastic.
Tomorrow we will begin our journey to Washington DC where I’ll be, among other things, having a videographer record video of me at various sites for my campaign as an UNAFFILIATED candidate for the US House in this special election.
I, of course, ask for your support in this campaign.
Why am I not seeking your nomination today?
1) the national Libertarian Party, especially in the person of one of its four officers, its current secretary, has slandered me repeatedly for years. Attacked my integrity both as chair of the national financial audit committee and as a member of the special investigatory committee. She has falsely claimed, in writing, that I engaged in elder abuse – that elder being the widow of our founder David Nolan, and the abuse being the donation of his personal papers and ephemera to the Library Of Congress.
2) the national Libertarian Party’s current marketing strategy has elements that are IMO damaging to the campaign I hope to run between now and November.
3) I am passionate about two issues:
A) eliminating all NDAs (Non Disclosure Agreements) regarding waste, fraud, criminal activity and evidence of Extraterrestrial life.
While that last issue may cause ridicule and laughter, it’s exactly how I campaigned in my first run for the US House – a campaign that gained national attention, and was covered by the Park (City) Record in a front page article titled IMMIGRATION, TAXES AND LITTLE GREEN MEN.
B) As a victim of sexual abuse in the Boy Scouts I want the statue memorializing the BSA removed from the Washington Mall.
Congressman John Curtis and I met with his staff in his DC office when I was there in March. I hope this campaign will bring additional support to those efforts. It will take an Act of Congress to order that statue removed.
But more than being victimized in a single sexual event, I was also damaged by the BSA’s decades-long process of cover-up – including blaming the victim, and then threats of lawsuits for slander.
I told the truth then, as I have consistently since.
I also told the truth when I ran for the position of serving as your state chair.
Before that vote, as some of you may remember, especially Barry Short Willy Marshall and J Rob Latham –
“I am NOT a Libertarian; I am a Radical Voluntarist. To the degree the LP advocates the political positions that easily and logically arise from that philosophy, I support it. To the degree that it does not, I condemn it.”
You elected me chair nonetheless.
I hope in November after a rigorous campaign with the other candidates, including whoever you nominate at your convention today, we can all look back knowing we have done our best to advance that Radical Voluntarist Philosophy.
If ETs are here, if Life itself is flourishing throughout the Cosmos, then the self-evident nature of natural law, would demand that it has as well.
Death to tyrants,
Joe
