LNC Treasurer Proposes Budget Cuts

and a few increases.

The LNC Treasurer writes on the LNC business list: “I am proposing a series of budget amendments, discussed at the last meeting, for approval as a group.”

The motion was made by the National Chair and is now being voted upon.

A few notes: The ballot expenses refer only to the current calendar year, where a more accurate estimate of year costs is now in hand, so the cuts are not consequential. The increase in Accounting includes the hopefully one-time costs of the switchover.

In round numbers, revenue was reduced by $130,000. Ballot access spending was reduced by $100,000. Accounting went up by $42,000. General legal costs are now up to $85,000.

A significant ballot access funding decrease? Didn’t the LNC inherit the funds of the LPVA at the tail end of last year when the state party dissolved, specifically mandated to be spent funding the ballot access program?

Maybe the extra 10k for general legal use is to build a defense against the inevitable misappropriation lawsuit.
