WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH LAINIE?
- We want to stress that this whole document is not because we love Lainie so much and want vengeance. Sometimes people get fired, working relationships break down, it happens. Our concern is the abject failure of Angela and the board to acknowledge the true source of their problems and their staff’s problems. The fact that they are absolving themselves by blaming Lainie just makes it that much worse.
- Lainie Huston is not perfect and has made mistakes, as we all have. She also has many brilliant talents that were utterly wasted by this organization. She brought all her concerns to Angela and the board, she has acted painstakingly to do things properly despite political meddling and constant board interference in her management, has extensively documented all of her systems and processes, has pulled all-nighters and missed time with friends and family to diagnose and fix critical problems, has gone above and beyond for Angela not just as an employee but as a friend, and for her trouble was ignored, dismissed, attacked, scapegoated, and pushed out.
- Lainie and Angela now have a nondisparagement agreement. Lainie has not put either of us up to this and in fact wishes not to be mentioned in anything at all; she was not consulted on and has no knowledge of this document. Miguel signed no such agreement about what he has witnessed.
