Resolution of the Libertarian Party of New York
Condemning Actions Contrary to the Principles and Growth of the
Libertarian Party
And Calling for Immediate Corrective Action
WHEREAS The Libertarian National Committee (LNC) has a duty, as stated
in its bylaws, to nominate candidates for President and Vice-President
of the United States and to support those nominees along with other
Party and affiliate party candidates, ensuring its actions align with
the expectations of members and donors who contribute to advance
libertarian candidates and principles; and
WHEREAS Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat were the duly nominated 2024
Libertarian Party candidates for President and Vice President of the
United States, not Donald Trump and JD Vance; and
WHEREAS Angela McArdle actively undermined Chase Oliver’s candidacy in a
variety of ways, such as using her position to aid in Donald Trump’s
reelection through weak, disingenuous endorsements of Chase Oliver,
serving as backhanded endorsements of the Republican Party nominee,
stating, “I definitely cannot endorse Trump, but I do endorse Chase as
the best way to take votes from Kamala,” and urging people to “support
Chase Oliver if you’re in a blue state” clearly implying that he should
not be supported in red and purple states; and
WHEREAS Angela McArdle has admitted to working with a candidate opposing
Chase Oliver for the office of President, specifically stating she has
been “working directly with the Trump campaign,” and having had
conversations over five months prior to the 2024 National Convention,
despite Trump’s lack of demonstrated commitment to advancing libertarian
ideals; and
WHEREAS Angela McArdle has furthermore admitted to furthering Trump’s
agenda as opposed to the Libertarian platform which, despite claims of
selective alignment, reflects a dangerous precedent of prioritizing
another party’s agenda over the promotion of Libertarian candidates and
principles, creating an impression of blind loyalty and eroding the
Party’s independence and credibility; and
WHEREAS Angela McArdle has repeatedly disregarded the will of the
delegates, including disrespecting the delegates’ choice of Chase Oliver
as the Party’s Presidential candidate, and creating the appearance of
retaliatory actions against a duly elected member of the LNC, whose
efforts to fulfill their duty to secure ballot access for Chase Oliver
were met with resistance; this culminated in the improper removal of the
member and subsequent disregard for the Judicial Committee’s ruling to
fully reinstate them; and
WHEREAS Angela McArdle has engaged in dealings that involve clear
conflicts of interest, especially using her position as Chair of the LNC
to obtain at least $776,000 from organizations affiliated with the
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. campaign to benefit the nonprofit Rescue the West,
of which she was one of three founders in July 2024, while the LNC’s
separate joint fundraising agreement with the Kennedy campaign,
justified by McArdle as a strategic alliance, further solidified her
connection to Kennedy and placed her in a beneficial position, creating
the appearance of self-dealing and undermining accountability within the
Libertarian Party; and
WHEREAS the LPNY has become aware of numerous additional concerns raised
by Libertarians across the Party, including those who have filed
derivative lawsuits and others who have publicly expressed issues with
Angela McArdle’s leadership and actions; and
WHEREAS the Libertarian Party of New York (LPNY) has historically
avoided commenting on national party actions; however, under Angela
McArdle’s leadership, the national Libertarian Party has alienated
donors, hindered ballot access, damaged campaigns, fostered a perception
of the Party as “Republican Lite,” and drawn individuals with views
misaligned with the Party’s core principles, creating a culture of
corruption and unprofessionalism that alienates principled libertarians,
deters potential new members and supporters, and undermines the Party’s
mission to promote liberty for all; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the LPNY vehemently opposes and
disavows the actions of the LNC and direction of the National
Libertarian Party under the leadership of Angela McArdle; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the LPNY differentiates itself from the
actions of the National Libertarian Party by rejecting decisions and
behaviors that undermine libertarian principles. The LPNY affirms its
commitment to upholding the values and mission of liberty and integrity
that truly represent the movement, distancing itself from actions that
fail to align with these principles; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the LPNY requests our LNC Representative, Pat
Ford, to bring forth these concerns to the LNC and to advocate for
prompt and meaningful remedies; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the LPNY calls for Angela McArdle, as Chair
of the LNC, to take immediate corrective action to address the issues
outlined, restore trust in the Party’s leadership, and realign with its
core principles; failing which, the LPNY calls for her resignation or
removal as Chair.
Rationale for the Resolution by the Libertarian Party of New York
*Accountability in Leadership. To hold the Libertarian National
Committee accountable by expressing our disapproval of improper actions
by Chair Angela McArdle, which emphasizes the need for transparency and
accountability within party leadership.
*Upholding Ethical Standards. To uphold ethical standards, which is
essential for earning trust and credibility, especially for a party
rooted in principles. Overlooking misconduct risks eroding this trust
and normalizing behaviors that undermine the movement’s long-term
success.
*Protecting State Party Integrity. To protect our reputation and
commitment to our party’s foundational principles and values, by
distancing ourselves from national leadership’s actions, to ensure New
York libertarians can proudly support their state party even when the
national leadership deviates.
*Maintaining Credibility with Voters. To maintain credibility with
voters, since blindly associating with figures like Donald Trump dilutes
the Libertarian Party’s distinct identity, reducing its appeal to
principled libertarians and the broader electorate.
*Maintaining Donor Trust. To maintain the trust of donors to both the
national party and state affiliates, who expect that their funds will
support Libertarian candidates and initiatives, not candidates from
opposing parties or the self-serving interests of party leadership.
*Ensuring Candidate Confidence. To ensure that future Libertarian Party
candidates, especially for President and Vice President, can be
confident that they will not be publicly undermined by party leadership.
*Focusing on Long-Term Growth. To ensure the party’s long-term growth,
leadership must prioritize building a strong, principled foundation
rather than aligning with fleeting opportunities tied to temporary
political figures and movements. The focus must be on building a liberty
movement that thrives beyond any single election cycle.
New York Libertarian Party deserves credit for getting a bill introduced in the New York legislature to ease the ballot access laws. There are many states in which the LP is trying to find a sponsor for such a bill, but so far New York LP is the only one that has succeeded.
Thank you LPNY. That is the most beautiful summation of the crimes she has perpetrated upon the LP.
I Love New York
The worst state affiliate in the nation is condemning anyone is indication that they will remain the worst state affiliate for the foreseeable future.
Have you looked at CO? They had candidates dropping out to support Republicans, just lost two county affiliates and haven’t done anything in over 6 months. But with actions like this NY is definitely on the up swing.
I just want to say how professional the Chair of the LP is. I am so impressed with her style of communication. She really does her best to get all the affiliates working together for a common cause. Every member of the LP should stand by their Chair & these other party leaders. Not to mention pledge all of their life savings to the LP in order to fund the Chair’s numerous endeavors.
However, if for some unknown reason you might just support the views of the LPNY over the LP & it’s leaders – please feel free to join us here: https://www.liberalpartyusa.org/
We were promised functional and not embarrassing. McAddled instead needs her nappy changed.
Weir turned on the largest state in his region? NY should be holding a vote immediately to replace him. Ford should have NY’s back but he took undisclosed money too. Region 6 CLEAN HOUSE! LNC do your job and bring consequences to McAddled. CA, vote that Goon out.
The Libertarian National Committee promptly responded.

It’s so refreshing to see such professionalism from our LNC.
She is absolutely disgusting. She continues to embarrass herself by her unprofessional and childish behavior, but is too ignorant to see it.
Trump said to the National Convention that he would free Ross Ulbricht on day 1.
McArdle staked her entire reputation on making this happen. Whenever anyone criticized her blatant abuses of power, this was her highly-dubious excuse: that Trump told the convention he would free Ross Ulbricht on day 1.
Even in this very e-mail linked by Mr. Phillies, McArdle essentially repeats the same line: that all criticisms of her many, many misfires are unjustified because she is off’ freeing’ political prisoners.
Well, day one is over, folks, and guess what? Ross Ulbricht’s sentence was not pardoned or commuted, just like we didn’t get Thomas Massie or any other libertarian as a Cabinet nominee. Trump pardoned or commuted the sentences of over 1,500 people today, but not Ross Ulbricht.
In other words, the ENTIRE thing that McArdle put her ENTIRE reputation on the line for, failed.
The single thing that she used as a cover for every fumble, failure, and abuse of power over the last 8 months did not come to fruition.
She is a failure. Her cronies on the LNC are failures. They sold out and got nothing (not even a lousy t-shirt).
I do hope Trump frees Ross Ulbricht after all, because it’s the right thing to do. But as far as McArdle and this LNC are concerned, it’s clear they have zero influence on the administration. They are all but forgotten, except by a host of angry LP members who will never let a single one of them live it down.
Trump promised the cryptocurrency community a Day 1 pardon as well.
Trump has stated in the past he wants to execute drug dealers. I’m not so sure this is going to happen…although I hope it does.
Many have been working to Free Ross for a long time, not just McCardle. Although, if it does happen, she will take all of the credit and will publicly pat herself on the back to whoever will listen.
