Courtesy Jordan Willow Evans and friends, we have a report on the LPNH Convention.
The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire met in Manchester, NH for its state convention. There were 80 people credentialled and 24 prospective delegates whose admissibility needed to be voted on. There was an election for Chair. Spencer Dias and Ben Weir were nominated The Credentialling Committee successfully challenged Dias’s eligibility to run. He was replaced by Rachel Blackfyre as a candidate.
The vote was
Ben Weir 54 (elected)
Rachel Blackfyre 28
NOTA 5
There was an election for Vice Chair. The candidates were Nick Hubbard (incumbent) and Rachel Blackfyre.
The vote was
Nick Hubbard 62
Rachel Blackfire 31
For Treasurer, Brandon Stevens was ruled ineligible because he is a registered Republican. The outcome was:
Patrick Binder: 45
Steve Vallee: 40
NOTA: 1
There was a vote for Secretary. The outcome was
Jeremy Kauffman: 58
Adam Cahoon: 28
For At-Large members, Josh Elba and Bill Barger were elected. Rachel Blackfyre lost twice.
The Mises-supporting officers were elected with 45-62 votes. The opponents had around 30 votes, except Steve Vallee had 40.
[ADDENDUM: We are advised that in the process of voting to admit delegates, a grand total of three potential delegates were denied credentials. As to whether or not the victorious LPNH faction is Mises-supporting, we refer you to vote totals at the 2024 LP national convention.]
A correction though it may not mean much to some. NH has not mean Mises for three years or so. They have been their own thing. They left Mises and have not returned. So no Mises has not “retained control.” The last I heard they were their own caucus “Free State Based” but I don’t know if they kept that up, but they are their own thing, not Mises.
Ahhh… my apologies for the error. Their lunatic actions last fall and their visible support of other parties, led me to the assumption that they were mises.
And of course, the fact that this article is titled mises retains control…
Yes George is just mistaken. There was quite an acrimonius falling out about three years ago. I don’t know to which extent that relationship may have been mended but I left Mises in July 2024, and they definitely were not Mises. NH is most definitely its own thing. The article title would be more accurate if it said the controlling NH-specific faction retained control. I would say “Free State Based” but I am not entirely sure if they still use that moniker. They were as of PorcFest 2023.
My reliable New Hampshire source says they are still Mises, no matter the details.
Mises created that cancer and they will own it until they either remove the people in charge or expel the state from the national party.
And there you have it! Mises has not left the room. They are not giving up. They are going to hang around until the last shovel of dirt fills in the grave of the libertarian party.
We already know what the headstone will read.
