At the end of June, the LNC had
$105,334 of cash on hand and
78,370.13 of debts and obligations,
leaving $27,000 in cash above current debts and obligations.
Its operating expenditures for June were $26,800 more than its income. Readers will note that these results do not extrapolate favorably if they are continued for very long, namely without changes rather soon the LNC will be out of money and running on credit, debts and obligations that it will have no obvious way to repay.
During June, the LNC had
$52,038 in income
$105,334 in expenditures, including
$78,844 in operating expenditures and
$26,290 in coordinated expenditures.
The income included:
itemized individual donations $22,309,
unitemized individual donations $29,552,
and other income $176.24.

Every LNC member ought to start getting on the phone and calling every party member to ask them to dobate to bail the party out of this mess.
It would help if when making calls they had something to say the LP was promoting to advance the cause. Someone could write five 200 word summaries, put them in a format so that they could be copied on half a sheet of paper, with contact information on the other side. Then people will have something to hand out at booths, or distribute to libraries, etc. It would also help to promote using the same material for a monthly letter to the editor by 100 people and of course media releases. If the people on the LNC can’t do something this simple then they need to move on.
At this burn rate, even if they sell HQ they’ll run out of cash before the convention. The answer to the problems remain the same: build trust with the former donor base by trying to claw back the misuse of funds by AM & her enablers; give control of social media to development dept as it needs to be part of a planned strategy to gain more members & donations; focus on high ROI initiatives like the former renewal & Pledge Club programs; then get back to basics such as candidate recruitment / training / affiliate development.
Trying to “claw back” the funds is simply throwing good money after bad – good money the party apparently doesn’t have to spend.
Disagree entirely.
It’s the principle of it.
AM embezzled money. Period.
You don’t let someone get that.
OK then, how do you propose National pays for legal action when there’s no money?
Does anyone at national care what we think, or suggest? I tried a number of times to get them to update the brochures available that were advertised for sale in the LP News and just got ignored.
Fundraising specifically to go after AM, for one.
I would donate to that cause, as I believe many others would as well.
I’m sure there are attorneys willing to work pro bono.
Perhaps one in NH whose name rhythms with Narwark.
There will be some money when the building is sold. Not desirable to use that money to recover stolen funds, given the financial state of LP, and the fact that money should be returned to the donors, but that idea should be discussed at the very least.
Perhaps a loan until the money AM stole is returned.
Put a civil lien on everything she owns.
There are ways.
An organization cannot let an officer embezzle ~50k dollars and do nothing about it, not if that organization wants to remain viable.
“Fundraising specifically to go after AM, for one.”
Wow. Angry and bitter much? There’s no way the party would look good doing that.
I’m not going to engage further on the subject because it’s clear we disagree, but my position is somewhat similar to Gerald Ford deciding to pardon Richard Nixon. Yeah, the nation could have gone after Nixon for years in the courts in ugly protracted battles that would make no one look good – but in the end, Ford did the right thing and was recognized for it. The LP should take a similar high road, publicly clean house, and move on.
So being against fraud and theft is nothing but words, political lip service? Not actual principle?
Because that is how it would actually be seen by the rest of the world. It would undermine everything the LP has professed and fought for for 50 years.
This isn’t Nixon pardoned by Ford, either. Ford was a political coward.
