LP Wisconsin Denounces LP Regional Alternate Thon

We quote the announcement:

Motion: Resolution of Condemnation

The following resolution was adopted by the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Executive Committee on April 26th, 2026, by a vote of 7 to 3, with two abstentions.

Resolution

Whereas, the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin platform preamble states:

“As Libertarians, we defend each person’s right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest and we welcome the diversity that freedom brings. We seek a world of liberty; a world in which all individuals control their own lives and are never forced to compromise their values or sacrifice their property. We believe that no conflict exists between civil order and individual rights and that individuals, groups, or governments should not initiate force against other individuals, groups, or governments;”

Whereas, the Party is bound by its bylaws to take no position or action inconsistent with the Statement of Principles or platform of the Party;

Whereas, the Libertarian Party national platform affirms that “Individual rights shall not be curtailed, whether based on circumstances of war, epidemic, natural disaster or emergency, or any other pretense;”;

Whereas, Bryce Thon is the founder of the “So To Speak Caucus” and has publicly communicated statements, which have been publicly accessible, through online platforms including X (formerly Twitter), either directly or through accounts under his control or influence;

Whereas, statements associated with this account have included advocacy for policies inconsistent with equal rights and individual liberty, including but not limited to:

  • July 18, 2025, and March 28, 2026: “repeal the 19th”
  • March 31, 2025: “Repeal the 19th. End women in the workplace. Outlaw abortion. Abolish no fault divorce.”
  • August 16, 2025: In response to a question asking whether a proposal to remove “40 million immigrants” included “all people born in a foreign country, including U.S. citizens,” the account replied: “Yes”
  • April 4, 2026: “Prepare to be radicalized. 100m need to be removed from the country to get this back”
  • March 7, 2026: “We want white immigration”
  • July 12, 2025: “Fun fact: ICE hasn’t been aggressive or cruel enough to make 40m+ want to leave on their own.”
  • April 22, 2026: In response to a post stating “Indians assimilate faster and more extensively than any immigrant group,” the account replied: “They all need to go.”
  • April 22, 2026: “All Indians need to go.”

Whereas, such statements are inconsistent with the Party’s principles, including equal rights and opposition to discrimination based on sex, nationality, or identity;

Whereas, such statements further conflict with the Libertarian principles of life, liberty, and property by advocating policies that would restrict individual rights and freedoms based on identity rather than individual conduct;

Whereas, such statements also conflict with the principle that individuals, groups, or governments should not initiate force against other individuals, groups, or governments;

Resolved, that the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin formally condemns and rebukes these positions as inconsistent with its principles;

Resolved, that these positions do not represent the views of the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin;

Resolved, that the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin will not support Bryce Thon for any officer, representative, or committee position within the national Libertarian Party or its affiliated bodies.

    Can you describe for me how a letter from a state party distancing themselves from an LP board member calling for the arrest and deportation of more than 100 million people (and “all Indians” too) is ruining the LP’s viability as an organization?

    I mean there are other parties that would be 100% behind an operation like this but they don’t seem too viable to me. He may have to wear an armband if he joins one, though if he gets his way that’s just a precursor to the rest of us being compelled to wear one too.

      Viable in politics means possessed of enough spoiler vote clout to change laws and cause the Constitution to be amended. Election returns from over 50 presidential campaigns show this to be 1.5 to 2% of the vote. Republicans and Democrats assented to the coercive 16th and 18th Amendments to moot competition from Socialist and Prohibition Party candidates. To view the data, search “The Case for Voting Libertarian”
      Appalled that LP vote share was growing 12%/yr on the 1922-76 platform, looter party moles planted planks advocating child prostitution and weakening individual rights for women. Vote growth by 1980 was 1%, turned negative when Ron Paul infiltrated, and went negative when the “Mises” mob infiltrated in 2020.

    Nolan’s Duty,

    Do you think that the following is acceptable coming from an official of the Libertarian Party? I don’t mean do you think that the government should censor him, but whether the Libertarian Party should have him as an elected official who thereby is a representative of the LP?

    In response to a question asking whether a proposal to remove “40 million immigrants” included “all people born in a foreign country, including U.S. citizens,” the account replied: “Yes”

    “What is the usefulness of a public censure like this?”

    I think it is obviously valuable to put distance between the Party and the atrocious statements of Bryce Thon. Of course at this point, after many years of terrible leadership across the country, the LP brand may be too tarnished to ever recover. But if there is ever going to be a recovery, condemnations like this are a necessary part of it.

    Can someone explain why every sadsack libertarian is OBSESSED with 2014 era 4chan memes?

    It’s like a whole aesthetic for them, about 10 years after any of this stopped being funny, much less edgy. The Cringe Dad aesthetic.

    I haven’t seen the Pinochet helicopter meme since Chris Cantwell was in tears, and this outstanding political theorist has it as his movement’s profile pic. Classy AND timely.

    I believe Bryce Thon is a region rep for LPWI.
    Or was.
    Good for LPWI.

    And yet, Nekhaila nominated and LNC just appointed Thon to CSC.

    The thought police has turned a free speech absolutist organization like the Libertarian Party into a shell of its former self.

    Libertarians don’t need to approve of Mr. Thon’s statements. He doesn’t need to ask my permission to ramble on the Internet about policy fantasies.

    Starting with the public efforts of these people to attack others with “words are violence” or the “raising money” equates to theft and embezzlement, these sort of people have blocked any chance of the Libertarian Party being able to be a viable organization.

    What is the usefulness of a public censure like this?

      If Thon wants to spew garbage, he is entitled to do so…on his own time, and NOT as a representative of the LP.

      So you are saying that the MC was too woke?

      • Michael Wilson Michael Wilson April 29, 2026

        What do you mean by asking if it was too woke?

        • Jeff Davidson Jeff Davidson May 1, 2026

          It was sarcastic, in that its the MC that drove the Party into the toilet, as opposed to the thought police – usually considered a euphemism for wokeness.
