McGee Perhaps Removed As Region 2 LNC Representative

Last updated on May 2, 2026

Update#3  We are advised:

Update#2: Per our sources and per Doug Craig, the Georgia executive committee removed the state chair over that vote.

Update#1:We are advised that there is a dispute as to what happened.  See Comments.

We are advised that Mr. Jonathan McGee has, by vote of his state chairs, been removed as Region 2 LNC Representative.  There is a PDF of most of the State Chair discussion, except that the bottommost message appears to have been clipped.  The Regional Alternate, Matt Johnson, will apparently serve for the nonce as the Regional Representative.

The removal motion read

“I, Josiah Baker as the Chair of the Libertarian Party of
Tennessee, move to remove Jonathan McGee as Region 2 Representative effective
immediately upon a majority vote of the Region 2 chairs.

Justification: Our current Region 2 Representative has refused to communicate with any other Region 2 chairs and regional members and has now pushed suing the former chair, which will cost the LP countless dollars. This behavior is not consistent with party principles since we are talking about Libertarians suing Libertarians.”

What’s this about a nonce on the LNC? Thats a very serious allegation (or perhaps a typo?)

‘for the nonce’…’for the time being’

I gather that in British English an entirely different meaning exists.

Rumors of my removal are greatly exaggerated.

With a tip of the hat to Hector Roos for telling us about this event.

    • Although there was a vote, it did not pass and McGee is still the Region 2 Rep. Victory was declared premature by those wanting to remove him.
      Votes:
      – AL: No
      – FL: No
      – GA: Yes* GA’s EC instructed their chair to vote No, so the validity of this vote was formally challenged by me
      – MS: Abstain

I have also come to learn that LNC members are being told that the vote will not stand. It seems there is an attempt to pressure Region 2 chairs to reconsider their vote. The Georgia chair is facing a motion for his removal over it.

You state that there is an attempt as if it is happening after the fact. There was reconsideration of votes that occurred before the ballot was actually complete.

Your email thread was incomplete. Mr. Baker stated AL voted No, even though I had yet to cast a vote. Please, look in the PDF attached to this post (that your presumably sent) to see where I actually voted. It’s not there, because the ballot was called as complete at 12:52pmET, even though AL didn’t vote until 6:19pmET. TN assumed AL’s vote. In the hours between, I formally challenged GA’s vote as it was a violation of their procedures and against the will of their EC, and FL changed its vote to No.

Reasonable people don’t try to remove a representative less than a month away from the biennial convention where they can elect to replace them. This was a last minute desperate power grab, and absolutely shameful.

      Ah, that explains the misinformation.
