The Exchange Between Malagon and Harlos
We report on motions being placed on the agenda for the next LNC Meeting. We read from lnc-public, the notice thread for the July 13 event, keeping comments in chronological order, but sorting by topic. The exchange began with an unrelated issue:
Austin Martin offered a resolution in support of the Overwatch/Operator program proposal as a strategic implementation plan for Project Archimedes and PDR. He said of it: The concept is designed to be self-funding after the program is up and running. The motion is intended to authorize our chair and staff to implement this plan and fine tune the program over the next two quarters. The staff members who have reviewed this plan have been strongly supportive.
Harlos responded: Mr. Martin, apologies, but you don’t seem to understand the limitations of alternates. You cannot raise points of order or make other kinds of motions. You can ask one of the Region 1 reps to do so. Before you do ask a regional rep, please be advised I will have an objection that these things should be planned with the Chair and come from him (in my opinion). But that is just my opinion.
Martin thanked Harlos for her explanation.
Malagon offered a Motion To Suspend against Harlos, writing: Greetings All, It’s come to my attention that after meddling in Michigan and California, Caryn Ann Harlos today, somehow held an invalid convention for the Libertarian Party of Colorado, subverting their bylaws required notice. As such, I would like to notice the following motion for our upcoming meeting: I move that this Board adopt the following resolution: Resolved, that a committee comprised of members willing and able to serve be appointed by the Libertarian National Committee to investigate allegations of misconduct by our Secretary, Caryn Ann Harlos, which, if true, cast doubt on her fitness to continue in office, and that the Committee be instructed, if it concludes that the allegations are well-founded, to report resolutions covering its recommendations.
Harlos responded with a Motion to Respond against Malagon: Hello all, I cannot hold a convention which was decided by delegates but exercised my rights as a Colorado member and it is completely inappropriate for the LNC to try to restrict member rights in their own convention providing notice of the following due to Mr. Malagon’s continued abusive behaviour on this Board to multiple committee members:
I move that this Board adopt the following resolution: Resolved, that a committee comprised of members willing and able to serve be appointed by the Libertarian National Committee to investigate allegations of misconduct by At-Large Representative Adrian F Malagon, which, if true, cast doubt on his fitness to continue in office, and that the Committee be instructed, if it concludes that the allegations are well-founded, to report resolutions covering its recommendations.
Harlos added: And Mr. Malagon continues his abusive behavior. The interpretation of an ambiguous bylaw belongs to delegates. Everything was done properly.
Hays wrote: Stop this. I’m sick of criticisms being called “abusive” it’s childish. You knew what you were doing. Whether people think it was improper or not based on your role here is up to them. But stop playing victim, it’s an insult to women everywhere.
Harlos responded: Thank you for your input Ms. Hays, no, it was handled properly by the delegate. Mr. Malagon’s behaviour on this board has been unquestionably abusive, mostly to others. Have a nice day.
Additional Motion by Malagon: During the fraudulent LPCO “convention” that took place earlier today, Ms. Harlos said, “The delegates have the right to interpret their own bylaws.” (There is video evidence all over social media.) I’m noticing the following motion: I move to remove Caryn Ann Harlos from the Bylaws Committee.
Harlos responded: Yes there is video evidence and I will post it myself as well. There is written evidence of Mr. Malagon’s abuse to members of this committee.
Malagon: Don’t tell me what kind of day to have. That’s abusive.
Harlos: And yet more evidence of Mr. Malagon’s continued inappropriate behavior for a corporate board.
Malagon: Funny quips and “mean words” not okay, but lawsuits fraud, and a white woman telling a brown man what is acceptable and not, is. Got it.
Malagon offered another motion: By request, and also because I believe in it, I’m also noticing the following motion: I move to remove Caryn Ann Harlos from APRC.
Harlos offered a motion; The malice seems pretty evident. Well then by request of members and because I believe in it I notice to remove Adrian F Malagon from the EPCC. No one who treats people the way he does in this Party should be in personnel capacity in our Party. He also has been abusive toward fellow EPCC members, particularly Travis Bost. If I were simply being vengeful as Mr. Malagon obviously is, I would notice his removal from FSC. I’m not as I believe he can do good there despite the above. Mr. Malagon is proving that he will tank the LNC for his personal grudges. This is shameful. Go ahead Mr. Malagon keep going with your revenge.
Malagon moved:
I’ve been far too kind up to this point. No person who has not even the slightest grasp of personal, let alone professional finances (especially one who has been so vocal about it and has constantly begged publicly for money to cure their personal issues) and can’t bother to attend meetings, should be on the COC.
As such, I notice the following motions: PM amendment to Section 1.03—Committees I move to strike the following language under COC: “The Secretary is an ex-officio non-voting member if not otherwise a member.”
Under subsection 8): To replace “The Chair and Secretary shall be ex-officio non-voting members of the COC” with “The Chair shall be an ex-officio non-voting member of the COC.”
Lastly: I move to remove Caryn Ann Harlos from the Convention Oversight Committee.
Harlos denied an accusation of Mr. Malagon, the accusation not being apparent here: Mr. Malagon that is false. The CoC Chair will attest to that falsity. We meet every week. I’ve missed one meeting to my recollection. I’m not even required to attend and have faithfully attended.
Wait a second here….
Malagon is bent out of shape because CAH may or may not have broken LPCO by-laws, but didn’t vote to debate Mr. Redpath’s motion regarding LPNH breaking the LNC by-laws when they endorsed a Republican candidate for POTUS?
What hypocrisy!
I move to remove Malagon from the LNC and LP for his hypocrisy and for his unprofessional behavior towards his fellow board members and other LP members in the past few years.
