Nick Sarwark: LNC to Fill Two Vacancies on August 3

With the resignations of Adrian Malagon and Kathy Yenascavich, the remaining members of the Libertarian National Committee have a chance to regain trust from Libertarian donors. Will they take it?

Dear Friends,

If you have been following the internal news of the Libertarian Party, you have heard that long-time Mises Caucus organizers Adrian Malagon and Kathy Yenascavich both resigned from the Libertarian National Committee within days of each other. Malagon’s resignation message was as unprofessional as his behavior during his time on the committee, Yenascavich’s was more succinct and polite. The underlying message of both resignations is that the Mises Caucus had lost control of the board and been hollowed out by the wake of Angela McArdle’s ongoing embezzlement scandal.

The Libertarian National Committee will meet on August 3, 2025 at 7:00 pm Eastern via Zoom. Meetings are open to the public, but registration is required at least one hour prior to the meeting, according to the announcement from LNC Secretary Evan McMahon (who was elected over Adrian Malagon to fill the vacancy created by Caryn Ann Harlos’s resignation).

All of this has happened within the last six weeks.

In other news, the Libertarian Party’s finances continue to deteriorate toward insolvency. June numbers released by Treasurer Bill Redpath show net income of <$14,082>, and a net income for the first six months of the year of $20,698, an average of approximately $3,450 per month. Redpath projects that the situation will worsen with the ending of the probably illegal joint fundraising committee with RFK Jr. / Donald Trump.

There are a number of people who have thrown their names into contention for one of the two open seats on the LNC that are to be filled this weekend. Some of them are serious. Some of them are not. One of them is me.

Regardless of who you support for the open positions, you should contact your LNC representatives to let them know what is important to you as a member of the party and what questions you would like them to ask of the candidates on Sunday night.

The Libertarian National Committee wants to hear from YOU!

Some possible questions:

  • If elected to the LNC, will you support taking legal action against Angela McArdle, as requested by dozens of former LNC members in an open letter released in April?
  • What prior experience do you have serving on a board of directors, what were your major accomplishments during your service, and how will those experiences help you serve on the Libertarian National Committee?
  • The LNC is presently spending more money than it brings in each month and has lost nearly all professional staff. What skills do you bring to the position and what do you intend to accomplish during the ten months of your term?
  • What previous fundraising experience do you have raising money for a political candidate or a political party or cause?

The Libertarian National Committee has reached an inflection point. What happens this weekend will provide a clear view of whether the current membership of that board is ready to turn away from the failure of the McArdle years or whether it wants to continue along that path with the same staff, strategies, and slide into insolvency.

Yours truly,

Nick

P.S. If you would like to contribute directly to holding Angela McArdle responsible for her actions, please consider a donation to the legal costs of the derivative suit Beth Vest has been fighting for nearly two years. All funds go directly to legal costs.
